Title: V
Post by: S. Jester on November 02, 2009, 01:44:02 am
Keep an eye on the new series coming out Tues.

Who knows? Maybe it'll give us a "taste" of tactics(doubtful, though) and such.

The Anna chick looks great though.

I was sitting here at work, yesterday, and watching the old "V" mini-series from the 80s on the ScyFi channel. One thing that struck me was the dedication at the beginning of each episode,"Dedicated to all the freedom fighters - past, present, and future." The freedom fighters they were probably referring to were the contras in Nicaraugua and the mujahadeen in Afghanistan, in fact there were references to them. It will be interesting to see the new show.

We loved the old series, it was excellent!

But I will have to miss this series opener, Going to metalica.

I'm sure I can find it tomorrow on the net...somewhere.

If you've got cable or satellite, see if you can't get a DVR box.

Or get a VCR (remember those things?  )

Just watched the 1st episode...

The show wasn't bad...but I really hated the whole TV watching experience, I deffinately haven't missed anything in the past 5 months that I haven't used it for anything other than movies. I may just watch it online from now on...

Yes!  They even brought the crazy "reptilian" conspiracy theories into the show by saying that they have been here for years - starting unnecessary wars, etc.  That they are in positions of power, etc.

Of course, there's at least one reptilian "good guy" so far, so everything will not be what it seems.

'V' aims at Obamamania

Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.

The news media swoons in admiration -- one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: "Why don't you show some respect?!" The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader's origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: "Embracing change is never easy."

So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait -- did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who's come here to eat us?

When I saw the scene where the catholic church was fully packed I thought to myself "I wonder what the gun stores are like..."

Seconded. But she was even more attractive in "Firefly".

Indeeed, and in Stargate SG-1 as Adria.

She makes for a lovely and sexy dictatrix (feminine form of dictator, for those who don't know).

I was surprised to see that this show has TWO fireflies, Inara and Wash.

...and yeah, I did notice the seeming swipe at Obamao's utopian claims.
Can't wait to see how this plays out.

I think it's just that yucky grey busniness suit she's wearing  :thrbarf:

Such as Anna's demand (no other word for it) not to ask any questions that would put the Visitors in a negative light, and then her proclamation on the air that she will answer questions freely and without reservation.

And then her flunky's "reassurance" that compromising one's principles for the Common Good is not a shameful act, but rather a noble one.  These Visitors are so oily they could put OPEC out of business.

For me, it's mostly the short hair. Amara's hair was nice. She wore sexy clothes, too, so yeah, the business suit doesn't highlight her, uh, attributes as well.

Just saw the first episode on Hulu. Looking forward to seeing where they take it.
Lizards in human skin suits with a one world government, offering universal health care. Gee, where have I seen that? Oh, right.
This new series is okay but seems to grow boring at parts. Some good use of tactics but overall where will the humans go. They can't really hide so it brings in a more hardened struggle to survive in a situation that can't be easily analyzed. Much in this show has to be explained so that takes up most of the show. Suspense sux, no real builder. LOLZ rating:about two tacos and maybe through in a gordita.

I, for one, like the new series.  The writers are apparently doing a slap in the face to the Obama-Yo-Mama administration, and so far they are responding like Hench-Rat (from the Earthworm Jim cartoon series, cheerfully replying, "Ouch! Thank you!"

There is suspense, grievous loss, and political and personal intrigue.  I look forward to seeing where it goes, wondering what will happen before the invasion force arrives.

Sometimes I'm into it, other times I'm bored. And I'm way too much of a realist to believe that there would actually be a show on TV that blantantly patronizes BHO.

It's the hair.  She looks much better with long hair.  Given a choice between Anna and Lisa (played by Laura Vandervoort (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0888882/), though, I'd pick Lisa in a heartbeat.
