Title: 2 23 National Day of Resistance
Post by: da gooch on February 24, 2013, 08:06:07 pm
SO ... What did you folks do for the National Day of Resistance?
223 Day as I have taken to calling it.

I am reposting a post from another thread to get this one started.

Quote
My 223  Day

I spent three hours on the street corner with my home made sign reminding folks that 2-23 is a perfectly good day to remember that 223 is the most widely purchased and used caliber in this country.
It was pointed out to me that .22LR is probably the actual most widely purchased and used caliber. They are most likely correct. Oops
Quote

AND that no one has the right to ban or prohibit it, for ANY reason, or the tool that uses it.

Wearing my Gold on Black Oath Keepers shirt I held a large sign and gave away pocket copies of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

My Sign said  ...

                     .223    DAY

                Support Your RIGHT
                  of Self-Defense

223 National Day of Resistance 2013

While there I had a few who honked their horns and a lot more who gave me the thumbs-up.

I had one fellow who in a jovial voice said "but the Constitution doesn't apply anymore." I got the joke but unfortunately he drove away before I could explain that the Constitution doesn't DO anything. It is just the recipe ... WE have to make it work.*

Then I had a couple of good conversations on the same subjects with private individuals over by the library.
All in all a nice day.

*A Republic Requires Active Participation of all parties.  It is because folks thought that they could "Let George Do It" that we have gotten so far away from the Liberty that was still available until the early 20th century. [1908?]
Folks started to not participate and simply let their "elected Representatives" do the "dirty work".
In no time at all the Republic morphed into a democracy. The point behind Dr Ben Franklin's statement "If you can keep it."

When asked on the street of Philadelphia "What have you given us Dr Franklin?" referring to the Constitutional Convention, He replied "A Republic Madam If you can keep it."

Share your news here  ... If you like.

How was 223 Day in your neck o' the woods?

I reloaded a bunch of 40 S&W rounds.  Does that count as applicable on 223 day?

You Bet knobster.

As far as I know Resisting Tyranny doesn't have a specific caliber. To each their own.

.223 just fits so well with 2/23/13 don't you think?

The local fishwrapper  called today and I was interviewed by one of their reporters.
They have two now. [whoo-hoo]

So anyway the guy came out and we had a nice chat and he took the photo attached.

IF it will attach I may have to shrink it first. Let's see shall we?

Good job on the wake-up call, Gooch.

First there is one.
Then there are two.
Then there are four.
Then....

It was an interesting day in my town, which is wildly, wildly "progressive".

NC has open carry, BUT you cannot open carry at parades or "pickets".

About 100 people showed up on the City Hall green and they were open carrying w/no problems.

However the local city council political creature the next day was all on the news about the City "dropping the ball" by allowing open carry at a picket. The organizers pointed out that it was not a picket, it was a protest, and thusly not outside the boundaries of the open carry law.

Oh brother... that's nuts. So, your "petition for redress of grievances" must be done suitably disarmed, hat in hand. I'm surprised you are not required to grow a forelock to tug while you bow.

So glad you folks carried, and screw their bogus "law."

Sort of, the genesis of the law was the unionization era, with the attendant violence.

Though the railroads have a surprising amount of power and autonomy even today, including a sort of quasi police force.

BUT, I do think the city councilman was engaging in that oh so progressive game of "hear no dissenting opinion that is not leftist approved".

Well didn't you know that any measuring tape in excess of 16' must be registered, insured, properly stored under lock and key, and is subject to yearly visits from your local PD?!? Does it have any of the "evil" features, such as a locking mechanism, hash marks for 1/16's...or even the dreaded 1/32's? Does it feature a 9' assault stand-off, or perhaps have standard AND metric measurements for assault measuring in foreign lands?!?!? Oh! Let's not forget the "special" assault marks for 16" on center! I mean.....Aren't ALL tools treated that way?

I didn't know it was a 25' 1" heavy duty Stanley Honest it looks ezzackly like my 12' 1/2" Stanley ... Really ...

I don't know nothing about any measuring tape any where.

When I saw this pic....

I immediately thought of an old 3 Stooges movie, where they are doctors constantly being called by the evil robot in the announcement board.

"Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard..."

Gearing up for another go around at the court house.

My sign from last year is still perfectly readable and I fully intend to put it back into play on Sunday 223 - 2014.

What are YOU planning for the National Day of Resistance this year?

Personally I think it is a good idea to keep reminding the local thuggery gang that "Nope we haven't forgotten just because some time has passed." That second amendment hasn't gone anywhere and it wouldn't matter if it did. Every living thing has the right to protect its own life.

Care to share?

However ...
I will probably keep the ahem ... "A.M.T." undercover this time.

edit to correct yet another operator error     who keeps letting this "operator" person in here?   sheesh

I like it. In fact, let's add a 3 08 day and a 4 5, maybe even a 30 06 day (for those who prefer the day/month format).
In other words, I'd prefer every day be a day of resistance... but then for the masses I suppose we need to start somewhere.
