the perpetrators of his murder prosecuted (not just hidden out of the way for a while until people forget about it)
The incident occurred on May 25.
The perpetrators were fired (not just suspended, fired) from the Minneapolis PD on May 26.
The main perpetrator (the one who kept his knee on the man's neck) was arrested on May 29 and charged with third degree murder and second degree manslaughter that same day.
Seems to me like the system's actually working in this case.
That's great SS, I hadn't realised that. However, "fired", going by what I've been reading has happened in the past with police in situations like this, is that "fired" means "taken out of circulation for a while until the problem blows over" or "there is nothing to stop you from being hired by another police department".
This did nothing to stop these riots from happening, or to deal with stopping the rioters or holding them accountable. Another question I have is: Why is "the trigger" being attributed to the death of George Floyd, there have been numerous cases of murder by police recently. Why were there not riots throughout the country after the LaVoy Finicum case? This was every bit as horrendous as the George Floyd incident and there was also video to show what happened so the facts could not be in dispute. Also there have been lots of other cases just as horrific as the latest one.
