Truant Students May Soon Be Tracked By GPS

"Wearing a chip tells you where the child is. Its up to the courts to decide," he says.

A Prince George's County Judge is conducting a study to determine whether a truancy court is needed to handle the most serious cases or students who get in trouble.

Prince George's County State's attorney Glenn Ivey says it could cut down on crime.

"We had a pilot program two years ago at Largo and Bowie. [There was a] dramatic downturn in auto theft," he says.
