Did someone post an Iron Maiden song?

How about this one?

The Clansmen (IE a Scottish Clan)

Wake alone in the hills
With the wind in your face
It feels good to be proud
And be free and a race
That is part of a clan
And to live on highlands
And the air that you breathe
So pure and so clean

When alone on the hills
With the wind in your hair
With a longing to feel ..
Just to be free

Is it right to believe
In the need to be free
Its a time when you die
And without asking why
Cant you see what they do
They are grinding us down
They are taking our land
That belongs to the clans

Not alone with a dream
Just want to be free
With a need to belong
I am a clansman .....freedom

Its a time wrought with fear
Its a land wrought with change

Ancestors could hear
What is happening now
They would turn in their graves
They would all be ashamed
That the land of the free
Has been written in chains
And I know what I want

When the timing is right
Then Ill take what is mine
I am the clansman

And I swear to defend
And well fight to the end
And I swear that Ill never
Be taken alive
And I know that well stand
And well fight for our land
And I swear that my bairns will be born free

And I know what I want
When the timing is right
Then Ill take what I want
I am the clansman .....freedom

And I know what I want when the timing is right
Then Ill take what is mine I am the clansman

No, no we cant let them take anymore
No we cant let them take anymore
Weve the land of the free
Freedom

Is it right to believe
In the need to be free
Its a time when you die
And without asking why
Cant you see what they do
They are grinding us down
They are taking our land
That belongs to the clans

Not alone with a dream
Just want to be free
With a need to belong
I am a clansman

And I know what I want
When the timing is right
Then Ill take what is mine
I am the clansman ? ..freedom

One more then I'll stop

Megadeath

3. Peace Sells

What do you mean, "I don't believe in God"?
I talk to him every day.
What do you mean, "I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean, "I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, "I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?

[Chorus:]
If there's a new way,
I'll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.

What do you mean, "I hurt your feelings"?
I didn't know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, "I ain't kind"?
I'm just not your kind.
What do you mean, "I couldn't be president, of the United States of America"?
Tell me something, it's still "We the people", right?

[Chorus: (repeat)]
If there's a new way
I'll be the first in line,
But, it better work this time.

Can you put a price on peace?
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
Peace sells...,but who's buying?
[n+1 times more]
No, peace sells...

Absolutely, War Pigs rocks.  One of my all-time favorites.

"Zombie"

Padre, you beat me to it!  I was just listening to that CD last night.  If you have not heard "Zombie," you must give it a listen.  And if you have not seen the video, you missed a great one - using shots of British Paras in occupied Northern Ireland. When I look at those, it reminds me of occupied Iraq or the occupied West Bank.  What is the difference?

With most of these songs, as great as the lyrics are, you really must hear them to feel their power.

For all their wars are merry
For all their songs are sad.

Speaking of Iron Maiden, how bout Run To the Hills?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQW9wD00Twc

RUN TO THE HILLS

White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes killed our creed
He took our game for his own need

We fought him hard we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came too much for Cree
Oh will we ever be set free?

Riding through dust clouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom the stab in the back
Women and children are cowards attack

Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives

Soldier blue in the barren wastes
Hunting and killing their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good Indians are tame
Selling them whiskey and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old

Run to the hills, run for your lives
[repeat to end]

best anti-war song ever....

http://www.youtube.com/v/sztxP-8k2ig

Here comes the helicopter -- second time today
Everybody scatters and hopes it goes away
How many kids they've murdered only God can say
If I had a rocket launcher...I'd make somebody pay

I don't believe in guarded borders and I don't believe in hate
I don't believe in generals or their stinking torture states
And when I talk with the survivors of things too sickening to relate
If I had a rocket launcher...I would retaliate

On the Rio Lacantun, one hundred thousand wait
To fall down from starvation -- or some less humane fate
Cry for guatemala, with a corpse in every gate
If I had a rocket launcher...I would not hesitate

I want to raise every voice -- at least I've got to try
Every time I think about it water rises to my eyes.
Situation desperate, echoes of the victims cry
If I had a rocket launcher...Some son of a bitch would die

Hey Padre, you posted the lyrics to The Clansmen.  That is a great pro-liberty song!  And especially when it is set to scenes from Braveheart.

Check out this kick-ass video:

OK, one more and then I gotta go for now (my wife is impatiently waiting to watch a Kurosawa samurai film )

One of my favorite anti-cop, anti-authoritarian songs is "Killing in the Name Of" by Rage Against the Machine (yes, I know they are a bunch of stinkin' communists, but it is still a cool song).  I especially like the series of "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me"s at the end.

And here it is set to scenes from one of the best anti-authoritarian movies, V for Vendetta:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV-oMXifr1E

I used to work at a strip club in Vegas, and whenever undercover cops came in to try and bust the dancers for dancing too close to the customers (yes, they have nothing better to do), we would immediately spot them (usually because of the glowing tritium rear sites under their shirts - such dumbasses!) and then one of the dancers would come out in a special cop outfit and strip to this song right in front of them.

KILLING IN THE NAME OF!

Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Huh!

Killing in the name of!
Killing in the name of

And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
But now you do what they told ya
Well now you do what they told ya

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites

Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses
Uggh!

Killing in the name of!
Killing in the name of

And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control (7 times)
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control
And now you do what they told ya!

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Come on!

Yeah! Come on!

Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!
Motherfucker!
Uggh!

Handsome Johnny
by Richie Havens

Hey, look yonder, tell me what's that you see
Marching to the fields of Concord?
It looks like Handsome Johnny with a musket in his hand,
Marching to the Concord war, hey marching to the Concord war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of Gettysburg?
It looks like Handsome Johnny with a flintlock in his hand,
Marching to the Gettysburg war, hey marching to the Gettysburg war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what's that you see
Marching to the fields of Dunkirk?
It looks like Handsome Johnny with a carbine in his hand,
Marching to the Dunkirk war, hey marching to the Dunkirk war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of Korea?
It looks like Handsome Johnny with an M1 in his hand,
Marching to the Korean war, hey marching to the Korean war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of Vietnam?
It looks like Handsome Johnny with an M15,
Marching to the Vietnam war, hey marching to the Vietnam war.

Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of Birmingham?
It looks like Handsome Johnny with his hand rolled in a fist,
Marching to the Birmingham war, hey marching to the Birmingham war.

Hey, it's a long hard road, it's a long hard road,
It's a long hard road, before we'll be free.

Hey, what's the use of singing this song, some of you are not even listening.
Tell me what it is we've got to do: wait for our fields to start glistening,
Wait for the bullets to start whistling.
Here comes a hydrogen bomb, here comes a guided missile,
Here comes a hydrogen bomb: I can almost hear its whistle.

War Pigs

Generals gathered in their masses,
just like witches at black masses.
Evil minds that plot destruction,
sorcerers of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
as the war machine keeps turning.
Death and hatred to mankind,
poisoning their brainwashed minds.
Oh lord, yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away.
They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor, yeah.

Time will tell on their power minds,
making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
wait till their judgement day comes, yeah.

Now in darkness world stops turning,
ashes where the bodies burning.
No more War Pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour.
Day of judgement, God is calling,
on their knees the war pigs crawling.
Begging mercies for their sins,
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings.
Oh lord, yeah!

Hell, yes.

Am I the only one who starts singing this kind of thing when under the influence?
I have -got- to get to a meetup when I get back to the States! I'll bring my Bodhran and whistle and over-loud singing voice.

Formed up and fitted out, we stood ranked in the square.
Our regiment's colors in the still, dusty air.
Young Danny and Thomas, even lame Matthew Ray --
Ev'ry man who's a man joined us there.

refrain:
With a biscuit, and a musket, and a boy with a drum
We'll meet the king's army, and we'll overcome.
So pipe up the hymns of our fathers, our line,
Freedom's my birthright, and thine.

I kissed my dear Sarah before we marched out.
Wee Aaron couldn't know what it was all about,
Sweet Anne to my coat clung unreasoning griev'd.
There there, I did tell her, no worry, no doubt.

[refrain]

Held fast one more moment, till they could not see,
Then I groaned and I wept, and fell on hand and knee,
For the thought of my brood was like hot stinging knives,
At table, at worship, at hearth without me.

[refrain]

At Breed's Hill, At Brooklyn, we were always outclass'd,
Our biscuits, our powder, right down to the last,
No glory was found in burnt and bloody death,
Just crude, hasty graves we'd march solemnly past.

[refrain]

We were farmers and blacksmiths and tailors -- not they.
Trembling we aim'd as they fired away.
Wither'd our numbers by hunger and shot,
Surpris'd ev'ry dawn just to live one more day.

[refrain]

But at Saratoga, we met them man for man,
In scorching heat withstood them, and it was they who ran!
To one of them I shouted, You're between me and my home!
My home!  And my fields!  And my Anne!  And my Anne!

[refrain]

Many years hence now and many years gone,
You've sold what we bled for, killed sov'reign for pawn.
Tell that to young Danny, last seen bayonet fix'd,
Who wouldn't be cowed, nor would be tread upon.

I'd love to hear this put to music.
