I'm watching an episode (No Man's Land) in which Briscoe visits a town populated solely with women. Their major rule in town: No Guns.

So... the Sheriff (Denise Crosby, who played Tasha Yar in Star Trek for a few seasons) is the only individual who is legally armed, and
when she gets into a bind (bad guys who, interestingly enough, didn't give up their guns), Briscoe is in a  position to help... but, oops!
His holster is empty and all the town's firearms are locked in an armory, the key to which was taken from the Sheriff when she was captured.
I won't go into the rest, as this isn't really enough of a spoiler for the episode to ruin it (lots more story going on), but it was an interesting
sub-plot that they may not have intended when filming.
