"For vehicles, they crafted a device with an electronic odometer and a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver that determines whether a car is being driven in a predetermined "zone" — inside or outside Oregon, for instance. The miles in each zone are recorded separately.

When the car pulls into a gas station, its mileage data is uploaded by short-range radio frequency to a wireless reader. It sends the numbers to the station's computer, which, in turn, asks a central computer for information on the car's last reported mileage."

Oregon has been the test lab for virtually every statist prank ever devised.  I have a friend who has been trying to get out of Portland for years, and even though she is a nurse, she hadn't been able to make the money to make the break.

When I lived there, the governor came out one day and formally apologized for sterlizing thousands of people right up until the early 1980's.  "wayward girls, aggressive teens, etc."  Many states did that but if there is any reminder of what governments are capable of doing and keeping failrly quiet, that would be it.  Oregon always seems to lead the way in these things.  Hell, try opening a bank account there one day, they'll demand about 5 pieces of id because of all the identity theft.  Fraud and socialism go hand in hand out there.  My favorite tactic the police in Portland are using are these "no go zones".  That is, if you've been in any sort of trouble with the police you can be banned from entering the downtown area, even if you live there.  Every time they find themselves broke from all of the bs they spend money on they threaten to release all of the "criminals" to scare the public to raise taxes and their favorite people to release to prove their point are child molesters.  I'm glad I left Portland.  It was great for a while but they have no clue about what is important.  The mountains and the sea on the other hand, I can be happy there. :)

I blame the Californians.

They looked up from their socialist hellhole, and saw a green mountainous paradise. So they abandoned the home they had fouled with their own shit, a moved to Oregon, and decided to fix it up by adding more socialist shit.

Give them a few decades, and it will look just like their home used to.

These idiots have no clue why their problems have followed them up here ... I pity the few non-statist californians who are also trying to flee this crap ... it's out of the frying pan and into the fire for them.

The psychology of “Projection”:  If you want to run people’s lives for them, then you will probably assume that any armed person wants to do the same to you. Scratch a victim-disarmament supporter, and you will always discover a fear-ridden control-freak.

I used to live in southern Oregon (Grants Pass/Medford area).

The "locals" were always complaining about the Californians moving up to Oregon.

This was in the sixties.
