Neil Alexander,

I think it highly illuminative that you've no comment on your unprovoked
anti-BTP letter to J.J. Johnson which was published on 2/19/04.

My take on Claire and Vin vis-a-vis the FSP was based what I
naturally took as a reliable source within the FSP.  Not necessarily
"bad" research, but it was in retrospect incomplete and imperfect.

That was a third alternative which you never bothered to consider.

Even if you cannot believe that it was a mistake made in good faith, my
public statement that I did not lie in the Lady Liberty interview is entitled
to credence--barring evidence to the contrary.

Evidence you don't have because none exists.

If you were smart, you'd have replied something like, "OK, Boston, so
you're not a liar, and I apologize--but I still think your research on that
matter sucked."  You'd have at least ended this thing on an adult note,
while simultaneously saving a bit of face for yourself.

You offered no evidence, no apology, and no satisfaction.
Instead, you propose that I sue you for libel.
If you are competing for Chickensh*t of The Year, I'd say you're well ahead of the pack.

You do not "stand by" your "analysis" and statement one whit, as talk
from you is demonstrably meaningless.

Neil Alexander, you've a perfect right to parade about your unmanliness and your
cowardice.  It is entirely your privilege to set a disgraceful example for your children.
You are welcome to continually accept no personal responsibility for your actions.

Just don't expect anyone to understand, much less applaud it.

My condolences to your family, and to your future NH neighbors.
With contempt,

Boston T. Party

P.S.  Regarding the Hamiltonian duel, it was Aaron Burr who demanded such,
not Hamilton.  (Please get your facts straight before you attempt historical
analogies.)  And we all know who took the .54 caliber lead ball in his spleen that day.

Hello all!

Sorry I haven't been around for the last few months. I finally got broadband, so I should be on at least a few times a week from now on.

Down to business: While this thread has been interesting to say the least, the horse is dead & rotting.  It appears that most of the questions that were asked were answered, so I'm locking it. Any further discussion on it can take place via Private Message, email, phone calls, ads in the New York Times, and/or skywriting.
