Cops Disciplined for Tasering Grandmother

Misuse of a car horn on a city street?!?!  Give me a break....

I'm willing to make a prediction: The increasing number of incidences like this will lead to a situation
where a cop get's shot in broad daylight, and people just walk around the downed cop and go about their
business. No one calls 911.

Does sometime within the next 5 years sound too soon?

What would you do if you found out that your Granny had been tasered?

About 20 years ago, a couple of years after my grandfather died, my grandmother moved into town. I was living with her as she was in her 80's and I had not been around much for over 20 years. I was working nights and on my way out the door at 10:30PM. Granny had gone to bed at sundown. I was met in the driveway by a cop saying he had a complaint about a barking dog. (Granny was keeping a dog in the back yard for a churchmember on vacation). I told him I had not heard the dog barking. He then pointed at a sign on the garage Granny had put there: "This house guarded by shotgun 4 nights a week...you guess which ones!" I told him Granny had put it there and he wanted to know if she had a shotgun. I grinned and said yes. (Granny was a crackerjack shot with any firearm and really loved her 38 pistol) He suddenly became very stiff & demanded to speak with her. About that time she came out the door. Cop says "Maam...I had a complaint about that barking dog of yours and....." Granny didn't miss a beat. She pointed her finger in his face and backed him off the porch "Young man, that dog wouldn't be barking if something wasn't wrong...you know there is pack of them neighborhood boys out every night up to no good. Maybe you need to check on that." That cop kept backpedaling, I was trying to keep a straight face, and he is looking at me in anguish, and she keeps telling him how he should be doing his job. Priceless!!!

Granny was pure GOOD in every sense of the word. A Church of Christ member who walked the talk. In this day and age she might have been tasered, and I would have been behind bars or in my grave. This world ain't fit for any of us any more.

 She'd be tasered or pepper sprayed or beaten down, like that little old blind lady in Oregon or Washington state whose glass eye the cops knocked out a few months ago.

 How do they even find people who would do things like that?

 The amazing thing is that the cops were actually disciplined in some way. Not in the way *I'd* like to see, but they were held accountable to some extent. That's rare these days.

The cops around here are always grabbing for their Tasers and their pepper mace.  Don't know if it's the attitude or simply that they are short handed, but it seems like they are zapping and spraying their way through the citizens of the town where I work. And I have to pick up the pieces.  Spend time in the back of an ambulance with someone has been maced is more than a pain.  The bad news is that the mace and the Taser, if you are drunk and drugged enough, don't work.

You know you might have a problem when you call for help from the police and they come running in with their taser in one hand and their mace in the other.  The interesting thing is that in the next town over, they don't have tasers and so rarely use their pepper mace that it expires.  Hmmm talking to people before zapping and macing them, what a concept!

My sweetie is a fifty-something (not gonna say) grandmother of 6,  soon to be 7,  who has been known to give cops a hard time on occasion,  particularly when they're being real jerks.  Like the one story I heard about leaving one guy cuffed to his steering wheel with his pants down around his knees...!

As in the case of whoever it was that said they'd likely end up behind bars,  I hope like hell that I never end up in a situation where things get out of hand like that -- because I *KNOW* her character, and her idea of right and wrong,  and would have to back her up if it came to that.  But it would probably go even worse than that,  if it came down to that.  :-(

Like somebody said, when did it change from "peace officer" to "law enFORCEment"?
