Do-It-Yourself Links and Info
« on: December 13, 2008, 11:17:56 pm »

I found these in a newspaper type magazine that I take when I can afford to named the Farm Show.

They have an editors page up front along the lines of the Backwoods Home magazine and in the current issue they had these links listed.
Since I didn't find a thread dedicated to Do-It-Yourself I thought [see ? dangerous] that I would just start one.
It would be nice IF at some point there is enough interest and information that one of the mods will think it worth stickying.

So .... Here goes ....

www.doityourself.com
Articles and videos on personal finance, legal issues, home and garden, car and truck repair, pets, and electronics.

www.diynetwork.com
How-to articles on home repair, gardening, landscaping and wood working.

www.monkeysee.com
Expert and user videos covering a wide variety of topics.

www.expertvillage.com
Short videos on how to do just about everything.

www.thisoldhouse.com
Articles on home-improvement projects, planning, tools and products, along with newsletters, videos and discussion boards.

www.autozone.com
Auto-repair guides for specific vehicles, troubleshooting and parts-locating guides.

More later ....

A few more, somewhat skewed towards the electronics side:

MAKE: Magazine
Projects and how-tos, And a Great annual fair.

Hack-a-day
Updated slightly more than once a day, has some cool links, how-tos, etc. for re-purposing your electronics.

Evil Mad Scientist Labs
Very infrequent posts, but good stuff when they do.

The Log Home Builder's Association teaches people how to build their own log homes.  My GF and I took their course, and will be building our own once we escape our current suburbia and make our move to the country.  http://www.loghomebuilders.org/

Quote from: LHBA
The Log Home Builders Association is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to help men and women around the world build their own log homes from scratch, and in many cases build without a mortgage.

I used Do-It-Yourself rather than diy.
I was hoping to collect all of the links provided together so ....
Thanks for bringing them up.
However, it appears that the links you provided are not listings of active links to any kind of do it yourself help sites but just instances of where the term diy was mentioned.

I was looking for LINKS with DIY helpful hints and tricks not just the term diy or the reference to the action of diy.
I am hoping to create a reference page/thread for folks seeking instruction or directions on do-it-yourself projects.

[That there are enough links out there with useful information that a Liberty minded person MIGHT find helpful. And .... that having them all in one place would seem like a good idea ....(?)]

No no, please don't step back, gooch.  I'm just poking around some sites a little as time permits.  And sometimes I have more time on my hands than others.  And I had already found some of these for a Yahoo group I own, so I was just lifting some from the Links section of that group.
