Everything they do is behind schedule, except when they arrest you for asking questions.

H.R. 2749 was passed through the House yesterday evening. For those you still following this, there is a very good comment here (comment number 3) outlining at least 20 problems with the bill.

Let us hope that the Senate will not pass/amend this puppy any further. mutti

All right - I have a copy of the pdf of the Passed bill - now we are up to 160 pages from 117 . I'll ask ND to help me figure out how to get it here, since no matter what I do it keeps "slipping"  away. Thomas and Congress.org do not have the latest.

If one reviews USC 21 - the bill seems to be even scarier than before.  But then again just about everything that is a bill seems sort of freaky these days.

USC - 21

From Illinois, Sen Dubin has S.510 waiting for the past 4 months with, imagine that, the same title and much of the same verbiage.

You know - I would think there was a conspiracy, but .gov cannot even figure out Cash for Clunkers - how could this be coordinated without leaks?

Nah - its just tired talking.

A nice little write-up with a link to the actual bill. A good friend has gone to a lot of trouble to explain some of the more concerning points of H.R. 2749

From The Complete Patient. A little description of what might be the future with food safety bills abounding:

How I Spent My Christmas Holiday: Watching Foodies Confront the Emerging National Food Safety Regimen
Quote
What happened at Asilomar is exactly what critics of the pending legislation have argued is going to happen nationally. Small food producers will have a very difficult time complying with the new law’s requirements. While those who were barred by ARAMARK have other options, once the U.S. Food and Drug Administration essentially takes over ARAMARK’s role, there will be no other options. You either comply, or go out of business.

What hasn’t been anticipated so widely yet is what happens after smaller producers are run out of business. I fear that what will happen is that our food options will diminish, and we’ll be forced into ever more of the institutional quality food that the ARAMARKs of the world would prefer we eat.

I think there's a quickening type thing happening.
Where the "spiraling out of control" will spin up to full speed.

I don't think TPTB are going to be able to wait until 2010 elections and risk losing control when some of the more blatant puppets are voted out of office.
13 Attorney Generals are already threatening legal action over the 'vote buying' that went down with the health care bill.
Just saw it on the news.

S510 - Yet another attempt to circumvent personal  food production and small scale ag.

Smuggler’s Blues: S510…I always wanted to be a pirate!

Gotta love these smucks who write this stuff, they are getting smoother.  Bottom line is that once passed the bill sets into motion an unknown quagmire of consensus building with respect to small direct market operations, places the university extension services as a educational venue. The same bunch that has misdirected farmers for generations and has led to the ultimate demise of this country’s ability to be self sustaining in food production.

It's the commentary that caught my attention. More people waking up?
