I was talking to a lady the other day and she said, yes I have a pistol and keep it within reach at all times. But, I have the bullets locked up in a box in the closet.......and I keep that locked................DUH!!!!!!! I asked her what she would do if someone broke in. She said surely she'd have time to go and get the bullets.
Now, maybe if you were already IN the closet looking for something else at the moment........what about during the night or when you were on the other side of the house. That left her speechless. She hadn't thought of that. She said maybe she should rethink this!
My mom and dad always said, "An empty gun is a deadly gun!", "Don't point it, unless you intend to use it!"
An old LEO told me years ago, "You don't keep the gun IN the car, and the bullets IN the trunk!"
I carry from the time I get dressed in the am........3a to 3:30a, until I go to bed at night. We are raising our youngest Autistic grandson.......almost 4 now. We've had him since 5months old. At night a weapon is within milisecond's reach. He is on my lap, you name it........It stays on my hip. Husband carries when not on the road with the big Rig......dang DOT! A local ATF said they aren't worried a bit about the legal gun owners carrying. The are worried about a dirty bomb ending up in Houston and aleast 1million people heading our way and demanding or just breaking in and taking what they need................Yes, I stay locked and loaded..........ready to protect and defend.
