J W, R's New Book Release Book Bomb Day is Today!
« on: September 30, 2009, 12:24:46 am »

Note from today's Survivalblog post from JW, Rawles:

Today is "Book Bomb" Day for my new book, "How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It: Tactics, Techniques, and Technologies for Uncertain Times". My goal for the Book Bomb is a surge of orders that will drive the book's Amazon sales rank into the top 50, overall. (When I last checked, it was at #160.) Many thanks for waiting to order until today!!

Let's help support his writing talent by getting this book placed in the single digits!
The Amazon book rating was at 130 when I placed my order early, early this morning.

I work at Borders corporate office. We have a free book room and my co-worker just picked up a copy! I'm so jealous but I'm hoping to get my hands on this one asap.

So having read all the replies to this post- my mind has to ask, "What is the BEST survival vehicle?"  I realize that the answer to this question will have many answers.  Thus my "real" question is this...  From a mechanical point of view, what vehicles would be atop ten survival vehicles, that are sturdy, 4X4, reliable, offer moderate EMP protection- and are easily maintained by someone who isn't an expert vehicle mechanic?

I'm rather surprised that I've never seen a list like this before.  If any of you are aware of where I could find such a list, please let me know!

Thanks!

When I read this book, I was surprised to see him soft-peddle why you would
need to prep. Although I suppose scaring the living s*** out of the audience
might be counter productive.

This would be a good book for the novice prepper.

PS: On second thought, if someone is already reading the book, there is less
need to convince them that they should prep.

Yeah, I didn't read it until I pretty serious about prepping.  By the time I got around to How to Survive the End of the World as We Know it, I had already heard all it had to say from Patriots and survival blog.

What i didn't get about the book was why they stopped and searched every refugee who wandered by.  If someone isn't eyeballing your retreat, doing reconnaissance, or moving toward it, why not just let them move on?  They were being proactive, I guess.  But I didn't get it.

A lot of people have had problems with that too. I think what I would have done, in the case where there appeared to
be no threat, is to have one person from our group approach the travelers (while being covered by the others), and
exchange news and information. People are more friendly when you haven't pointed guns at them and forced them
to the ground.
