Great collection of gummint shutdown jokes: https://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2018/01/20/dear-lord-the-screams-writers-tell-the-harrowing-tale-of-dc-after-the-shutdown/

That's hilarious.  Now I finally see what it is all about.

May historians be kind to these bureaucrats while describing their time of despair.

And the rest of America, the "real people", well you can take solace in the knowledge that your guns are safe.

Historians will certainly be "kind" to them... the rest of us, hopefully not so much. :)

THE TWILIGHT ZONE

This is "out there", but it is totally true.  Nothing I haven't read on - a  lot of the time - mainstream news sites and papers.  I hate to say it, but this is what America looks like to the rest of the world and the rest of the world is totally screwed up, but there is not a "parody" (or rather a documentary) like this for any European country or African country (and others I guess).

Watch it if you can.

https://www.infowars.com/new-twilight-zone-pilot-set-in-real-world/

America is divided. Social engineers have brainwashed half the country into believing the President and his supporters are a threat to their existence.
But there is a resistance!
The other half of the country begins to rise up in defense of liberty to save the republic.
Meanwhile, the global elite use the spy-grid to collect names of rebellion leaders in preparation for The Big Event.

Any one here is already on their list, so what, there is really more of us still than them.
And they know it

You could be philosophical and say "well times they are a changing, we have to modernise and move on", or you could say "*#*$^X+#!  I'm sick of this $^&*" and bang your fist on the desk.

The last time I was annoyed with the census thing was in California, 2000, I think. I sent the paper back with just the number 1 on it, everything else blacked out. They sent several people out to attempt gathering more info, but they went away when I said no. They finally quit coming.

Never even thought to get out the shotgun... :) The mean looking Akita loose behind the fence might have helped. In any case, the gate was locked. It's going to be interesting to see what happens in 2020.  I don't remember anything related to a census in 2010. Must not have been paying attention.

meanwhile on the other side of the world.  I vaguely remember clearing the mail in the last days of February and finding "census papers", it was "bin day" the next day so I chucked them in the bin and haven't heard anything since.

I also vaguely remember a radio announcer saying something about "a census" a couple of days before that but apart from this there was no publicity.  An online article on the first day of March told me that the "census HAD TO be completed on 6 March and it would be collected later.  And "census workers" would be checking on it until the end of March, so you'd better comply" (yeah they actually said "better".  Then it rambled about the importance of the census and how it was "compulsory" to take part in it, falsely claiming that "people in the past had been prosecuted for not filling out census forms, or doing it incorrectly".  Apart from that, no publicity, and no follow-up.

Speaks volumes about the incompetence and disorganisation of government "workers".

A lot of people around here tell me that they "vaguely remember" hearing or reading something about a 2018 census, but either couldn't or wouldn't do anything about it.

Like the comment "'I'm with her" sticker just above the button'".

https://www.yahoo.com/news/suicide-machine-draws-crowds-amsterdam-funeral-show-215726881.html

A controversial suicide pod that enables its occupant to kill themselves at a press of a button went on display at Amsterdam funeral show on Saturday.
Called the "Sarco", short for sarcophagus, the 3D-printed machine invented by Australian euthanasia activist Philip Nitschke and Dutch designer Alexander Bannink comes with a detachable coffin, mounted on a stand that contains a nitrogen canister.

A "funeral show?" Now that's just plain sick.
