Oath Keepers want sheriffs back as top cop

MATT GOURAS, Associated Press Writer | 2 comments

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - For Rex Nichols, the right person to guard against
unrestrained federal power encroaching on the rural northwestern Montana
county he calls home is a figure straight out of the old West - the
aggressive, no-nonsense sheriff.

The retired police officer and investment adviser intends to make that a
reality, joining at least a dozen candidates in other states running for
office on an intepretation of the Constitution they say means the sheriff is
the highest law enforcer in the land, even above federal agents.

"Frankly if he wants to, the sheriff can probably do more for the Constitution
and protecting the people than anyone else," Nichols said.

The candidates are part of a loosely organized nationwide movement called the
Oath Keepers, which is enlisting law enforcement and military personnel to
vow to refuse 10 orders they say are unconstitutional, from confiscating guns
to warrantless searches. ...<snip>...

I'm going to have to keep and eye on Lincoln County.  It's within 100 miles of the border though, so I wonder if they are doing any of those Border Patrol harassment points there?

Haven't seen, or heard of, any Border Patrol checkpoints here in the Libby area. And I'm sure I would've heard about through the local radicals and conspiracy theorists. I did register to vote, mainly to vote for Rex Nichols.

I lived in Rexford  (the West Kootenai area) from 2001 until 3 weeks ago, never saw or heard of  check points, but there is a helluva lot more BP's officers driving around the back roads now then when I first moved there.???

Also I  know Rex well from the Ron Paul meetup group in Eureka, And worked with him on a (failed) recall petition of the current sheriff.
He's a good guy.

I was considering Lincoln county for when I move to MT (soon, I hope), but the current asshole sherriff and the constitution-free border zone gave me pause.  I hope they get the current turd out of there.

The current turd is retiring. There are five people running for sheriff. Two candidates would just be a continuation of the current regime. Two others I don't know a hell of a lot about, haven't seen any ads or signs for them, or read anything about other than a short blurb in the paper. And then there is Rex. Not a perfect candidate, but better than anything I have seen running . I would be willing to give him a chance

Just be careful of Gallatin County. I just moved from there, and it's FULL of enviro/globalist/UN lovers. Better bet would be more rural ones in the eastern part. Though it is somewhat more austere.

I can't take the desolation of the plains.  I grew up in western WA, and would go back there if I could afford it, and if I could stomach getting Al Gore's permission to build anything.  If I can't have the pure soggy goodness of the cascades, I need the majesty of the rockies.

If I can't have the pure soggy goodness of the cascades, I need the majesty of the rockies.

Careful with that word "need", Klapton.  If the choice is between subservience in the forest or liberty in the desert, some of us find in ourselves the ability to find beauty in the plain.

I grew up in Sonoma County, CA, which widely publishes the quote from famous horticulturist, Luther Burbank, "..this is the chosen spot of all this earth as far as Nature is concerned."  Of course it attracted hordes of lazy statists to destroy it as far as culture is concerned. Thus I had to choose between pervasive natural beauty and more subtle natural beauty combined with a culture containing at least a modicum of self-reliance.  It wasn't simple or easy, but it is obvious still that leaving was the right thing to do.

While in my adopted home we have a certain population who unquestioningly worship the USA flag, when the troops in blue helmets arrive, there will be a rifleman behind every bush, every rock and every tree. In the place I called home my first 50 years, there will be much bowing, scraping and begging instead. No natural beauty can put a gay wrapping on that package.

When the NWO sends in their troops, the county sheriffs, deputies, reserves, posses and volunteers will be the organization that lends credibility to genuine homeland defense efforts.
Sheriffs ARE the top cops.
That fact must be held sacrosanct.
It will be hugely important in the near future.

Nope. The sheriff is the second to last hope.

The Minuteman is our last hope
