FSW Jamboree 2011
« on: November 30, 2010, 02:19:13 pm »

Start making plans now for the Free State Wyoming Jamboree, now in the planning stage for 9-12 June of 2011.

After three years, Boston T. Party will once again actually put on the Jamboree. We have a permanent campground in NE Wyoming now, with many nice features - including a 600 yard rifle range!

I will be offering my annual introduction to handguns and self defense for women. Everyone welcome, of course, but it is geared especially for those who don't presently shoot and are even apprehensive or outright afraid of guns. If they will sit in this free class, I can almost guarantee they will see things differently by the end of the day. Those who want to shoot are welcome to come with us to the range and shoot. Ammunition donations are most appreciated, but don't let lack of it stop you.

You must be registered at the FSW forum to gain access to the plans and registration for the event.

I'll post updates as they come, but you'll want to get the straight stuff from FSW itself.

Hope to see many of you there!!

That sounds like it would be interesting.  We are making a trip back to Wyo this summer, but haven't settled on a date yet.

If you can't come in June, please plan to come to Newcastle and meet the FSW bunch here. We'd love a chance to get to know you and introduce you to our wonderful community of free people.

Plans are coming along great already. Boston T. Party will once again put on a regular, official FSW Jamboree for 2011, first since 2007. He is planning to give his famous rifle class as well. Register early, as this class always fills up fast.

Several others are promising to put on various seminars and classes, including yours truly. I'll do the introduction to self defense, especially for women, again as always. No fee or registration for my class. Everyone welcome.

Register at the FSW forum to learn the details as they are posted.

May 1 is the deadline for registrations, so get it in if you are coming. Send me a PM if you need to talk to Boston and don't have access to his email or the FSW forum for a PM.

It's going to be a good one.

We had a great Jamboree this year, just a lot fewer people than we anticipated.

Ok, here's the camp report at last.

Never did take the tent out there. Everything was saturated from the frequent rain, and the mud was pretty serious in places. Much easier to brave the road and go home for the night.

Here are the photos. I've blocked the faces for privacy and security reasons.

One of the fire pits. Tarp was to cover it while it rained so the charcoal wouldn't be extinguished.

Another campfire, usual location of the largest BS session during the evening... when it wasn't raining, of course.

Two very nice young ladies agreed to let me take their photo in front of the trailer. It is being restored slowly, but we already have a large kitchen and two bathrooms inside, complete with running water and electricity.

Tents were eventually pitched all over the place, but these were some of the early arrivals that got premium spots.

Almost ready for the Saturday night community dinner. Buffalo burgers, brats and roasted corn among many other things.

The big excitement this year was a large lightning strike just 30 yards from the main camp (trailer). It stripped the bark half off a large pine tree and most of us were blinded and deafened for a while by the flash and crack of thunder. Thank goodness everything was so wet there was no fire danger.

Another storm was rolling in around noon Sunday, so most everyone packed and left then. Hard to believe this was all in Wyoming, part of the "Great American Desert!"
