My favorite group of all time, Ian & Sylvia
The rare Reunion Concert...

Link:  http://youtu.be/hWNA8gD0jUY

They don't make music like this anymore, I can't stand the stuff they listen to today...

I just lost the love of my life Celeste, a few weeks ago to cancer. I have cancer too, I thought I was getting better but a CT scan showed it spread to my lungs and brain. I sold my record collection years ago when we redoubt to Oregon. All is useless now, I gave my guns and supplies to the III% here to use for Liberty sake. I have been in the Liberty movement since I skipped Vietnam, many Xerox copies and cassette tapes later I guess it's over... Carry on!!

Buffy Saint Marie "Universal Soldier" for Vets for peace...

Jake,  Some thump, thump is Ok but I prefer twang with mine, (except jerry lee of course). Heard this on the radio back in the 70's and thought, HEY, I recognize that laugh. Turned out I went to school with one of the Daredevils. Like their music.

A Patriot, I like New Riders of The Purple Sage but they always struck me as a little too urban. I prefer either Hank, even Hank 3. Both my Dad and I loved Johnny Cash and The Carters.

I LOVE Buffy St. Marie. Always have. Such a fine lady besides making great music. She sure has done a lot in her life.

A Patriot. I sure am sorry to hear of your loss and your troubles. My deepest condolences. Never having been there I really don't know what to say. except..

Hang in there Bro. It ain't over till its over! Keep your spirit up as it is amazing what the mind is capable of. I know that's easy for me to say, cause I am not in your place but I do believe in miracles. The Creator gave us a powerful mind, that we are just beginning to understand. My Prayers and Positive thoughts Sir.

Please forgive me if these suggestions are out of place.but this is what I would do and try to do daily.
Quit eating ANY sugar. Check your environment for electromagnetic radiation, using a gauss meter. Correct any alkaline/acid imbalance in your body by eating the right foods and drinking good clean water.

I am not very knowledgeable on the why's of such things but for keeping or getting healthy but I trust Nature and Natures medicine more than I trust the pharmaceutical/medical industry. Now for broken bones or an appendicitis and such I like Doctors. There are others on this forum with different opinions and knowledge. I am sure they would share their thoughts with you.

If I can help with any research or anything, even a cheerful thought, please feel free to PM me. Sounds like we are about the same age with similar backgrounds.

Peace, Love and Brotherhood.

Bill,  You know music is a funny thing. Like women, booze, religion, politics and theater, different strokes for different folks at different times. Many of my tastes have changed over the years. Lighthouse just struck me as cold, soul less white bread. Now here are a couple I could listen to all day (well, lots anyway). Go figure.

My favorite Ian & Sylvia recording ever. On a good system the guitars and steel sound terrific, besides that Ian & Sylvia harmony.

Heard some tunes I have not heard in years. Thanks everyone. Baked, I ain't gonna listen to something eulogizing Che' even if I don’t understand the words although I like a lot of Mexican/Spanish music . I still respect your right to post it though. Sorry Bro.

Here is one that not many of heard. An entire LP.  was recorded in the 1980 as a soundtrack for an opera/movie, about Jesse James, believe it or not. Levon Helm, Johnny Cash, Emmy Lou and Charlie Daniels.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUNF1A9phIc&list=RDtUNF1A9phIc#t=156

My favorite is a gospel that starts at 13;33 w/ Johnny, although there are many great songs on this. The whole album tells a story, about my state and area. I grew up right in the middle of this country and heard a lot of family stories.

About the album.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Jesse_James

A companion album is White Mansions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qaTtpGRXHk&index=2&list=RDtUNF1A9phIc

My favorite on this one is “White Trash”.

I will most likely be aging myself but I had such a big crush on Nancy Wilson it hurt!  Went to see them four times in Lincoln Nebraska and I'd get right up front every time, those were two sisters that could really rock and write songs!  Listen to the lyrics of this song and tell me that its not predictive programing that fits right in with how civil unrest is.

I got turned on to these guys in Afghanistan!  They kind of set the tone if you know what I mean!

Back in 70 or 71, I remember being up in a mountain valley of Colorado and hearing a bunch of guys sitting around the camp fire and singing songs like this.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkaKwXddT_I

They were just neighbors named David, Steven  or Graham and maybe Neil set in. Good times. Love them and all who believe in Peace, Love and Brotherhood.

Good song. I had that album with the dark cover with heavy texture, Young wore a ruffle gamblers shirt on the cover.
It was the steel guitar that was the hook to that song, it was Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead who played it. Later he was the first steel player with the NRPS on their first album until he was replaced by Buddy Cage who played with the Tyson's on the Ian Tyson show in Canada. That was an exceptionally good live country music program. The engineer who handled the sound on that show later would be the engineer who would record all of Emmy Lou's albums, which had such an exceptional good sound to them. I know, I had them all.

Good flick, I watched it all and every song is burned in my memory, over these years. I too helped us get out of that war, I went to special classes to learn how to get a conscientious objector draft card and learned it was unconstitutional and we are not to be under United Nations directives.

Heart of gold, it was the steel that was the hook on this song too, Ben Keith played it also from the Ian Tyson show.

Here's the quintessential anti war song of the time...
