"So here's how I'm going to use MY voice. I'm going to vote for Hillary Clinton." -- Katy Perry
I stopped there. I disagree with the politics of lots of entertainers. I also don't care what they think, since most of them DON'T think. I want them to look good, sing sweetly, and emote effectively. That's all I care about from them. I use their talents to improve my life. And ignore the rest.
YMMV.
When I disagree with entertainers, I boycott them. For instance, Liam Neeson is publicly anti-gun, even though almost every single one of his movies features him using one. Therefore, I refuse to support him in any way, which includes watching any movie that he has stared in. IMHO, so-called "celebrities" (businesses as well) should keep their opinions to themselves. Especially when that opinion has something to do with hot button issues such as politics or religion. That is, if they want to keep their current fan/customer base anyways.
This strategy has also hurt Target and Starbucks in recent months. Both businesses alienated a large swath of their customers and suffered the consequences of said customers refusing to do business with them.
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/starbucks-boycott-like-most-others-wont-hurt-it-in-the-long-term-2017-02-03 Most people are stupid and forgetful, so this strategy doesn't always work in the long term and sometimes even backfires on the protesters (Chick fil a for example). It can however, have devastating effects in the short term. 40% stock downturns as well as CEO's stepping down are recent examples of that.
I agree though.....YMMV
