« on: August 18, 2011, 02:39:53 pm »

We just finished watching the first four episodes from the first season of Chuck. So far we're enjoying the show :)

I'm about to watch Fairy Tail.

Recently I've watched the Kino no Tabi movie and Mawaru Penguindrum up to episode 6.

I watch Big Bang Theory, Naruto Shippuuden, Bleach, and One Piece on a weekly basis.

I await the second season of Yumekui Merry (夢くいメリー).

The Sacred Blacksmith was awesome, but that it only had 26 episodes was very disappointing. I want to read the light novels now though...

Grew up on cartoons, now all I watch are cartoons, too (Family Guy, South Park) - any dramas I watch have been on HBO (Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos).
Just got caught up on new episodes of South Park (southparkstudios.com):

We finished all four seasons of The Tudors. Great series (though a tad too much T&A for me). I thought the costumes were breathtaking. Whatever romantic notion I had of that era were quickly thrown out the window...

Watching The Fringe on Netflix.

Series that has the FBI and some mad scientist investigating and solving bizarre cases.  The last episode I watched they were trying to discover why a young women spontaneously combusted.  Each case ends up having a (for Hollywood) scientific explanation.  All the while there is a back story of a large corporation that wants to take over the world.  What else is new right?

Oh, and from time to time I watch an episode or two of Voyager.

日常

English title: "Nichijou: My ordinary Life"

I think it's one of the best comedy shows this year. Yuuko and Mai are both Boke types, and Mio is the Tsukkomi. There are other characters, and 3 more main chara that make it worth the watch. Nano (an android that looks human except for a wind-up key sticking out of her back), Hakase ("Professor", a child-genius that made Nano), and Sakamoto-san (a cat that can talk because of one of Hakase's inventions).

Got to see "The Killer Elites" in the theater. We normally would have waited to rent it, but my MIL offered to baby-sit and that was cheaper than a nice, romantic dinner somewhere. Didn't realize it was a remake until I saw mi6 mention it. It was okay...

GOSICK

A mystery themed Anime set in a fictional country in Europe, and the year is 1924.

The Protagonists are: Victorique, a petite shy girl who spends most of her time in a library reading books, has savant-like observational and mental capabilities that allow her to solve mysteries as if they were nothing... Kujo Kazuya, a Japanese foreign exchange student studying in that fictional country, becomes the friend of Victorique and helps her find mysteries to solve. Because of his black hair and frequent association with deaths in the area, some of the locals call him the grim reaper.

Aside from the usual mystery type stuff, there is plenty of cloak and dagger, and some steampunk influence.

Disk one of, "Energy From The Vacuum"

Originally conceived as a theatrical release length documentary, and inspired by Tom Bearden's book of the same name,  it quickly became evident during filming that, due to the high quality of the material, only a multi-part Series would allow enough time to do the subject matter and the participants justice.  This Series format also allows for the production of future segments as circumstances dictate.

Shot with two cameras in digital widescreen by Oscar-nominated Director William Gazecki in 2004 and 2005, this is the first ever in-depth look on film at the errors and omissions in today's electrical physics and the inventors (and their devices) who have exploited these gaping holes to pioneer the production of free electrical energy from the infinite vacuum all around us.  After William left the project, additional filming has taken place every year, yielding hundreds of hours of new film, plus archival footage from the past which has been blended in as required.

Doctor Who with the kids... it's surprisingly great for both entertaining and stretching their minds. It is truly rare to find a TV that is for the "family" that doesn't speak down to or insult children's intelligence.

Saw IMMORTALS last weekend. Cavill was totally swoon-worthy of course, and I kept wondering how he would play Superman. The movie: meh
