The Jungle Book. Very well done. Live-action Mowgli and lifelike animal animation. Good story. Haven't read the book in too long to compare.

:

Question: If Lois Lane is pushed off a super tall building in Metropolis, but Superman is out doing something superman-y on the other side of the world, will he make it back in time to catch Lois before she hits the ground? Would it depend on how many stories the building is, how much Lois weighs, or possibly how super Superman really is?

I'm sure Sheldon (Big Bang Theory) can answer your question:

---
Leonard[et al. at Penny's door]:  Do you wanna join us for Thai food and a Superman movie marathon?

Penny: Wow, a marathon, how many Superman movies are there?

Sheldon: You're kidding, right?

Penny: You know, I do like the one where Lois Lane falls from the helicopter and Superman swooshes down and catches her. Which one was that?

Leonard, Sheldon, Wolowitz: *One.*

[Raj holds up one finger]

Sheldon: You know that scene was rife with scientific inaccuracy?

Penny: Yes, I know men can't fly...

Sheldon: No, no, let's assume that they can... Lois Lane is falling, accelerating at an initial rate of 32 feet per second per second... Superman swoops down to save her by reaching out two arms of steel... Miss Lane, who is now traveling at approximately 120 miles an hour, hits them and is immediately sliced into three equal pieces.

Leonard: Unless Superman matches her speed and decelerates.

Sheldon: In what space, sir, in what space? She's two feet above the ground. Frankly, if he really loved her, he'd let her hit the pavement. It'd be a more merciful death.

Leonard: Well, excuse me! Your entire argument is predicated on the assumption that Superman's flight is a feat of strength.

Sheldon: Are you listening to yourself? It is well established that Superman's flight is a feat of strength. It is an extension of his ability to leap tall buildings, an ability he derives from Earth's yellow sun!

Wolowitz: And you don't have a problem with that? How does he fly at night?

Sheldon: Uh, a combination of the Moon's solar reflection, and the energy storage capacity of Kryptonian skin cells.

Penny: I'm just gonna go wash up.

Leonard: I have 26 hundred comic books in there; I challenge you to find a single reference to "Kryptonian skin cells."

Sheldon: Challenge accepted!

[walks to door]

Sheldon: We're locked out...

Koothrappali: Also, the pretty girl left.

Ah, Mi6, I love it!

I dunno though... "Steel" is not a literal description of his physical body. When he is exposed to kryptonite he is made as vulnerable as humans -his skin can be penetrated. Interesting enough, in the TV show Smallville Clark refrained from any sexual relations out of fear of hurting/maiming/potentially killing his partner. Thus in two different episodes Clark was able to have sex with Lana (don't get me started) after he lost his super powers and another time when he had the super powers and Lana was endowed with super powers.

**spoiler** In the latest movie, though not shown, it is implied that Clark has a sexual relationship with Lois. So I don't know that he would necessarily "slice" someone with just his arms. Of course I'm not a scientific expert in any field nor am I nerdy enough to know for sure. Fun to discuss though!

I would still like to know if Superman could make it in time to save Lois if he was on the other side of the world...

Triple 9 turned out to be a pretty good crime/cop flick.  Many reviewers didn't like it - I think they're used to be fed plot points spoon by spoon ['Who's my widdle reviewer?  Who's my widdle reviewer?   ... yeessss, and here comes a singular plot point wid' a singular character ... whoooosh!']

Rotten Tomatoes reviewer review excerpt
---
Violence is a way of life in the films of John Hillcoat, director of The Proposition, The Road and Lawless.

His latest, Triple 9, a visceral dirty-cops drama set in the seedier parts of Atlanta, Georgia, is no exception.

It starts with a vividly staged bank robbery, in which five masked men take down a city financial institution and narrowly escape on a traffic-laden freeway, all guns blazing.

It’s a wonderful scene, easily up there with the memorable military-precision bank raid in Heat, Michael Mann’s 1995 masterpiece starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino.

Dead Like Me. 2003-2004 TV series. Both seasons, 29 episodes, available for free streaming on Amazon Prime video.

George, an 18-year-old college drop-out is killed by a toilet seat falling from orbit on her first day of work. She is greeted after her death by the "grim reaper" who freed her soul shortly before the accident. He tells her that she, too, instead of going to the next world, will remain on Earth as a grim reaper.

The reapers have morning meetings at a waffle house, where the boss man hands out sticky notes, each containing first initial, last name, address, and time of death (ToD) for the day's reaps. Each reaper's job is to go to the address, and, shortly before ToD, brush the soul from the soon-to-be-dead person, to save them the experience of death, then to let them know they are dead, and, if they need it, keep them company until their way forward opens up and they disappear from Earth. The reapers know basically nothing about where they go.

Meanwhile, George (short for Georgia), toilet seat girl, secretly follows her family, and works at a temp agency. The reaper job, though mandatory, doesn't pay a dime. But there are perks, for those willing to take them. The newly dead no longer need their property, and their living spaces are often squattable, for a while.

The reapers are incarnate visible to all, but the dead souls are visible only to the reapers and cannot interact with matter. To each other, the reapers appear as they did in life, but to others, they appear entirely different.

Light, silly, satirical.

Capitalism's death rattle.

Please do not confuse capitalism (an economic model) with corporatism (a political model).

Capitalism's death rattle.

Please do not confuse capitalism (an economic model) with corporatism (a political model).

The initial usage of the term capitalism in its modern sense has been attributed to Louis Blanc in 1850 ("..what i call 'capitalism' that is to say the appropriation of capital by some to the exclusion of others") and Pierre-Joseph Proudhon in 1861 ("Economic and social regime in which capital, the source of income, does not generally belong to those who make it work through their labour.").[30] Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels referred to the capitalistic system.[31][32] and to the capitalist mode of production in Das Kapital (1867).[33] The use of the word "capitalism" in reference to an economic system appears twice in Volume I of Das Kapital, p. 124 (German edition), and in Theories of Surplus Value, tome II, p. 493 (German edition). Marx did not extensively use the form capitalism, but instead those of capitalist and capitalist mode of production, which appear more than 2600 times in the trilogy Das Kapital.

Baked, The fact that early users of the term ascribed a different (and wrong in the modern sense) definition merely clouds the ability to properly communicate.

Quoting the same wiki article that you quoted, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism , the meaning of the term as I understand it is this; " Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit. Characteristics central to capitalism include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor, voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets. In a capitalist market economy, decision-making and investment is determined by the owners of the factors of production in financial and capital markets, and prices and the distribution of goods are mainly determined by competition in the market." emphasis mine

I now prefer (thanks to DiabloLoco)  the modern libertarian term "anarcho-capitalist" as described by wiki :Anarcho-capitalism is a political philosophy that advocates the elimination of the state in favor of individual sovereignty, private property, and free markets. Anarcho-capitalists believe that in the absence of statute (law by decree or legislation), society would improve itself through the discipline of the free market (or what its proponents describe as a "voluntary society").

However, it is referred to as a "political" term, rather than an "economic system" that I used in my original statement.

Further reading can be had by referring to this article.
 https://www.lewrockwell.com/2001/12/hans-hermann-hoppe/anarcho-capitalism-2/

As always, we must agree on the same definitions if we are to communicate.

We should take this to a different thread if we wish to continue the discussion but it must start with an agreement on what the definitions are.

I just watched season 1 of "Limitless" on Netflix.  I enjoyed it.  Because the main character is such a rebellious fellow, it made it possible for me to enjoy an FBI cop show.
