The Bozeman area’s reputation as a good place for hi-tech industry established itself some years ago – perhaps before it was really deserved. It seemed that there was a lengthy era when entrepreneurs established tech startups with just a handful of employees only to fizzle out or sell out to an out-of-state corporation that moved the business elsewhere.

But that may be changing. The number of people earning paychecks in the tech sector in southwest Montana is significant and rising. And Inc. magazine is taking note. The magazine recently published a story that singled out Bozeman as a great place to start a tech business.

“For a number of tech startups, it’s the Gallatin Valley – not the Silicon Valley – that offers that best environment for growth,” according to the Inc. piece.
That’s the kind of publicity a lot of economically struggling regions would kill for. ...<snip>...

In fact, most of the "away from the coast" northwest is a good place to be if you can earn your keep.  The problem is, the more prosperous it gets, the more the leeches will find their way in, get vocal in politics and turn things into what they left behind.  That's something to be careful of.

Hmmm... I think that's why God sends us lots of snow and -20 temps. At least it sifts out some of the parasites. :)
