Your story reads like a charming novel and I want to know more. Thank you for sharing something that must dredge up bittersweet memories. Your mother sounds like a beautiful, talented, kind-hearted woman. You must be humbled and grateful that she taught you such incredible cradtmanship and it no doubt brings you great joy to create these cherished heirlooms. It's wonderful that your daughter shares in this talent as well. Your pictures show more than just amazing quilts; they reflect the unique woman behind their origin. You're right about so many skills beng lackluster or lost altogether. The best quality I've found for handcrafted items have been in little Amish shops back in Ohio. Thank you for blessing me with your quilt thread...
