There's a gun and knife show in Somerset, KY, at the Center For Rural Development on November 5-6. I've been a few times, and it's always worthwhile.

Hit the local show in Cedar Rapids this past weekend (first one post-election) and the overall mood was very relaxed and downright jovial.  Huge smiles everywhere, people milling about and not scrambling to pick up every spare round of ammo and boomstick they could get their hands on.  The biggest thing I noticed were the prices of the mountains of inventory.  Cheap!

Complete ARs for as low as $499.  (Anderson Mfg lower, Del-ton upper)  Various WW2-era rifles in the 200-400 range.  Reloading components were the cheapest I've seen since I started in on the hobby 4ish years ago.  I am poking around for a Glock 19 (9mm, little smaller than the full-sized G17) and found one for less than $500.

Tables were groaning under the sheer weight of all the inventory.  If you couldn't find what you wanted then you had your eyes closed.

I can only imagine what the scene would have been had Hitlery gotten the nod.

Gun show in Cedar Rapids, IA this coming weekend.  The last one I went to was a week or so after Trump was elected and prices were already coming down.  I'm hopeful that prices have continued to go down and I will stock up as needed.

Hope to add another AR upper, a Glock 19 and oodles upon oddles of reloading components.

Show was quite busy and many people were doing great business.  Prices were stubbornly unchanged from the show last November.  AR uppers were simply too steep for my tastes - seems many people are trying to get too fancy and claim that "this upper with fancy doo-dads will make your bullets fly right to the target!" and ask for $1000.  No thanks, just need your no-frills carbine for much, much less.  Who knows, maybe all the cheaper ones were already snapped up.  I was a little bummed.  Found many new pistols but very few used that were in my price range.  So I settled on picking up reloading components.  Primers and powder were a couple bucks cheaper than last time so I was pleased about that.  Also picked up some fun items: Dragon's Breath shotshells for the 410.  Will make for a fun evening show.  Fire extinguisher standing by...

I've built a handful of lower receivers but never an upper.  I've always just plopped the complete upper on my recently built lower.  I suppose I could research building the upper...

Gun show in Cedar Rapids this past weekend.  I attended but could have just as easily stayed home.  Prices have actually come up a bit post-election.  Frustrating.

Am looking for a Glock 19 (compact 9mm) but the best deal I saw was $499.  Complete ARs were climbing back into the $600 range.  Even stripped lowers were back up to $85.  When Trump first took office I picked up a couple for $65.  I'm guessing the glut of inventory that many mfg's pumped out in anticipation of a Hillary victory have been snapped up.

Went to my club's annual gun show on Saturday. Nice selection of guns, but mostly used and antique. Quite a bit of reloading stuff and the usual boxes of ugly holsters. LOL  I didn't even look much at gun prices, since I'm resisting.... Anyway, did look at pocket and "gravity" type knives, and those prices were pretty steep. Even the Chinese stuff was expensive. I have a good knife, but am looking for a better belt clip. This one won't stay on my belt reliably.

I saw one really different knife, shaped like a pistol... grips, movable trigger and all! A neat little flashlight was in place of the sights.  The "hammer" was the lever to open the knife. Just too cute!  But for $60. - hmmm, too much, especially for something that obviously would be of little use as an ordinary pocket knife - no belt or pocket clip. Also, while small, looked too much like a real gun to be safe carrying in anti-gun territory.

Anyway, got to talk to a lot of friends I don't see many other places, met some neat new people, and enjoyed being able to actually talk to them since I got my hearing aids. Not perfect, but the background noise doesn't cancel conversation completely now.

After multiple knives belt clips got so loose they were unreliable at best, I have found the best way for me to carry my knife is inside the right front pocket with the clip on the outside.  Push it to the back of the pocket snug.  Haven't had that problem now for about 15 yrs or so.  Works for me.

I carry this http://www.streamlight.com/en/products/detail/index/protac-2l in the same position in the other pocket. I would never have paid 44 bux for a tactical light but work was nice enough to give them out.  Funny thing is I never really carried a flashlight in my pocket. I am amazed how often I use this thing, at least several times a day out of work and all the time at work.

Wish I could carry in the regular pants pocket, but I'm too short. When I sit down, the knife is pushed right out. I now have a few pants with cargo pockets, but I believe I've also messed up the pocket clip with putting it on my belt. The clip is too loose to hold it in the cargo pocket now and it falls out easily. I'll have to see if I can tighten up the clip somehow.
