Thanks Ragnar.  Hope everyone who can will get out to a show soon before they are gone for ever, at least gone from being out in the open anyway.  I can't stand long or walk very much well so I don't get to them much anymore, but do enjoy them when I do.

Hi, everyone I'm one of the new members who just joined this morning (May 6th) and I recently went to my first Gun Show. It was the annual Kalamazoo Gun show and I definitely had a lot of fun. I was able to get a bow though I later found out it's a little to small for me, and I also got a really nice bowie knife. I also saw several rather nice guns including my favorite, the Mosin Nagant M91-30, several of which were less than $100 and all of them except for one that was the type used my Sovie Snipers during WWII, were less than $200. Gotta love surplus military guns. I would have bought one, but I didn't really have the money and my grandma(who is my legal guardian) would have thrown a fit, seeing as she really is a afraid of guns, though she has a pretty good reason for it. But still I've tried to show her she doesn't need to be afraid of them, but she just won't listen!  :BangHead: I've tried to convince her that guns aren't as bad as she thinks they are, but it nothing worked. I even used my favorite line for this sort of thing "A gun, is a tool, just like a hammer, or a screwdriver, it has a purpose, and it can be used for good or bad like any other tool. Yes it is made to injure or destroy living things, but out of that destruction can come good things. Like for example, you're literally starving, and you have a gun. You see a deer. If you know how to use the tool, you, are now no longer starving." And that still didn't work! The only thing left I can think of is to take her to a local shooting range and let her shoot a small handgun. Which reminds me. Do any of you, know where I can get a decent 9mm for relatively cheap. It doesn't have to be brand new, or "one of the best 9mm handguns ever" just decent, and simple to use, especially for a first timer. That's the only thing I can think of is to get her one (Or more supply her the money to buy one seeing as I am under 21 and thus can't buy a handgun.) and take her to shoot it. Show her what it's like and how fun it can be.

My Granma, with whom I also live, is afraid of black guns. Not revolvers, not my M91/30, not my Glenfield 50 shotgun, just things that "look military".
Doesn't matter if it's the same inside. I've been trying to convince her for 3 years that guns are just tools, and she finally agreed to learn to shoot.
Know why? She has to. We're moving to Montana, she is afraid of being eaten by the local fauna. She wants to live in the mountains, so to do that,
she needs to learn to shoot. When I get there I'll have to borrow a .22 or something and teach her. If I started her out on the shotgun she'd never
do it twice.
