The National Weather Service of Phoenix reported Phoenix Sky Harbor tied the daily high temperature record Saturday of 95 degrees and broke the record of 95 degrees Sunday when the mercury topped out at 97 degrees. The National Weather Service says this is the earliest we've ever seen three consecutive days of days 95 degrees or hotter since record began in 1895 for Phoenix.

I have a bad feeling that you are right.  Have not used my little office A/C for three years now, but may have to dig it out of storage and put it in the window this year.

    Yeah , I'm sure you noticed that the Chinooks were in much earlier than usual , trees are already budding. 'Course keep in mind that last year Cheyenne got 2 foot of snow across Mothers Day , so it could turn out to be a " false spring ". I don't think so though......

Apparently high today about 91^o.  Two things we (meaning "me") need is water and A/C - maybe not the A/C part so much but just like anything else you have to get used to it.  Used electric heat 2 days around Christmas but that's it.  Clearing brush around A/C unit later to reduce fire hazard.

Happy April Fool's Day!

Temperatures won't be quite as warm out there as yesterday... and that's no joke.  Highs will still warm up into the low 90s, though, by this afternoon, keeping our streak of temperatures in the 90s alive.

Another record was broken yesterday after we reached 95º at Sky Harbor International Airport.

    I've a sneaking suspicion that it's shaping up to be an extraordinarily hot summer in places that aren't ordinarily hot.

Maybe it's not - or this forecast below could just be an anomaly (cooler weather but still above average) as opposed to a possible seasonal anomaly.  On the other hand, snowpack is way down in places that needed it during winter and there's artificial lakes like Lake Mead and Lake Powell that are really low, too.  Currently 76⁰ F inside, Weather Channel says 59⁰F outside here.  Either way anything with rubber on it will try to stay out of summer sun - garage is only so big.  Tires are expensive.  We'll see when we first hit triple digits*.



*  Buddy has been stationed in Riyadh at one time or another (AF) - now he's in a certain place where females also wear a lot of uneeded clothing that starts with an 'Afg'.  I keep telling him to get a Space-A flight out to Luke AFB and enjoy a similar clime.  Just like home!  we even got dust storms.

Hoo-ahh!  House started at 80^o in morning during window closing time, got to 90^o at sundown.  Then open windows.  Repeat until A/C time which is nearing.  Last time I ran it was mid-October I think of last year. (Electric) heat was turned on once for about 48hrs. around Christmas.  Last month's power usage:  $42.32  Not bragging about it because I get my monetary karma coming around during summer months.

re:  pool ->  New Year's Resolution, retroactive to Jan.1:  Do crunches/sit-ups until failure before cracking one beer tonight.

101° was the official high temperature recorded at Sky Harbor today in Phoenix.

By the way, the average date of our first 100° reading (based on data from 1980-2010) is May 2, so today's reading is right on schedule!

That's cold? And "sprinkles?" You actually have a problem with that, or just funnin'? I don't wear a coat unless it's below freezing outside. Sweatsuit type jacket or heavy sweater is usually sufficient.

Right now here: 45 degrees outside, and 64 degrees inside. Just about perfect. I'll leave for work in a little while wearing a short sleeved shirt and summer pants. And sunscreen, since it is supposed to clear off and be sunny. So easy to get a sunburn at this high altitude.
