Just when I put away my coat and gloves ... sprinkles and cold:

That's cold? And "sprinkles?" You actually have a problem with that, or just funnin'?

Just goofin' around.  But it is going to be about 15o cooler than it was two days ago (85o vice 1000 F).

Temps low for this time of year - I've been telling clients for about a month now, "I think this is the last week we'll be seeing x degrees during the day 'til October."

We're going to get one more snowstorm, it seems.  And, of course, we just received the major load of frost sensitive plants in the greenhouse, so we'll have to heat for at least a few nights. I had so hoped we would not have another freeze... but oh well. June is coming...

Flagstaff

---
PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK) -

Flagstaff residents awoke to a layer of snow Friday morning, while a few light rain showers were falling in the Phoenix metro area as a precursor to what is expected to be a wet weekend in Arizona.

A low-pressure system moving from Southern California is expected to produce significant rain that will move through the Valley of the Sun Friday night, CBS 5 Meteorologist Katie Baker said.

Temperatures will stay mainly in the 60s Friday morning and 70s in the afternoon.

We had 4 to 6 inches of new snow last weekend, but it's too warm for snow this time. We'll take all the rain we can get... Rained pretty good last night and this morning, and more may come between now and Monday.

Wondering if So. Calif. got any rain.

San Diego area got some w/some flooding:

---
San Diego — A strong storm lashed San Diego on Thursday night, causing flooding, snarling local roadways and prompting a rare rain delay for the Padres game at Petco Park.

In less than an hour, 1.57 inches of rain fell on Lindbergh Field — far exceeding San Diego’s normal average of 0.21 of an inch in May, usually one of the city’s driest months.

Heavier rain is expected Friday, with the National Weather Service predicting that this month will become the wettest May on record.

Major concentrated downpours are uncommon. In one instance, Lindbergh Field received about 2 inches of rain during a three-hour period on Dec. 3, 2014.

Thursday night’s storm led to flooding in areas of Point Loma, Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, the Midway District and Mission Hills.

Barring some sort of serious and severe "climate change", we're well past any chance of snow now.  Just thunderstorms with all the rainfall, lightning, thunder, and tornadoes they always bring.

This one passed within a mile of a friend's house while another friend and I were bowling.

Anyone familiar with the emergency alert racket your cell phone ("smart" phones, anyway) makes when there's severe weather in the area?  We got to hear that from an entire bowling alley that night.

OK I know it's not much by some standards, but ....

There was even a bit of snow (my husband reckoned it was hail, but I reckon it was snow) on the roof of my car this morning.

Hail would just bounce off, I'm pretty sure, so I suspect you are right about the snow. How fun! I used to enjoy it greatly when we got a little snow out in the desert. My grandchildren once made a snowman out there when they were visiting. It was only about ten or twelve inches tall, but great fun for everyone. Had to use a raisin for the nose and half a one for the eyes, since all my carrots were larger than the snowman!

Had to lay down towel in old work/play truck - no A/C and vinyl seats - touching the (black plastic) ball on the stickshift:  (ouch!) shift (ouch!) shift (ouch!)  shift ...

When temperatures outside reach 100 degrees, the temperature inside a car can reach 138 degrees in five minutes and 150 in 15, even with a window partially open. Having the windows down even 1 inch causes only a slight temperature drop.

43 degrees outside now, sun won't rise yet for a while. 62 degrees inside here, and may go to 70 by this afternoon. Very, very seldom goes above 90 outside here, and I can leave all my windows down completely if I want to. I visited Phoenix once in the late spring... might as well have been Death Valley. Too hot to breathe.

But, of course, to each his or her own. :)

You can keep those temperatures.  I know a lot of people around here (my meat space "here", not this part of the internet "here") have been complaining about the 15 inches of rain we've gotten so far this month, but it's been keeping the temperature down.  Besides, we've been in a statewide drought for several years.  We needed the rain.

Oh, and on the plus sign, the Arkansas river actually has water in it!  We haven't seen that in Tulsa for a few years now.

I am guessing that the original poster needs to be contacted about this first?...

What about renaming this thread? Something like, "current weather conditions," or "on the ground conditions," or whatever. I really like this thread as it gives a more accurate description as to what the conditions are across the country. Boots on the ground are better (in this case at least!) than some of the eggheads in front of the radar. Plus I like the idea of folks reporting about non-weather related issues like fires or railroad spills or earthquakes.

Thoughts?!
