Something to watch, indeed. Gutsy...

Cops Worried After Citizens Engage in a New Form of Crowd-Funded, Direct Action Against Police State
http://libertycrier.com/ops-worried-citizens-engage-new-form-crowd-funded-direct-action-police-state/#60EEH4FDT4bGxRxR.99

Rather than sticking to the traditional form of protest in which signs are held and slogans are chanted, these citizens have taken direct action and offered a grassroots, crowd-funded incentive structure to end police brutality in their community.

They have offered a $2,500 reward to anybody who submits information leading to the arrest or termination of cops who brutalize or kill people.

They were able to let people know about the offer by printing all the details on flyers and spreading them throughout their community.

Hmmm.... need to "expand upon that" a little.

How about, "$500 reward for a facial photo and home address of any cop
accused of brutalizing or killing an unarmed citizen." ?

I think some cops do what they do because they believe there will be no
blow back to the people they care about. A flyer like that would remove
the illusion of safety and cause some to be more on their best behavior.

Bear,

Much as I appreciate the Sentiment--That is much more likely to be held "Provocative"...

Though the Yellows do print the names and Addresses of Weapon Permit Holders in some States...

Sorry RVM... you're digressing from the warrior spirit.  The laws and their ilk have long proven they believe "all's fair in war" and that they are "at war" with the rest of us.  I figure removing their opsec would make them reassess the "all's fair" doctrine and start being actually fair rather than doing whatever they damn please without fear of justice.  I am watching to see how this goes.

If the police want to defuse the situation, all they have the power to do so: Just don't abuse people,
and enforce those laws where there is a victim. Done. That's it. Public support would return. Instead
what we see (in many places) is a culture of excuse and normalizing bad behavior. There is no
thought given that what they are doing might be wrong.

I would like to see is the police returning to being peace officers. I don't hold out much hope
of seeing that, but that would be the best outcome.

What I'm saying is that the State will get a Court Order for the Reward Offerers to Cease and Desist and maybe charge them with Conspiracy, Violation of Privacy and Aiding would-be Terrorists.

You cannot very well offer Bounties when you're forced to work Anonymously for Fear of Arrest.

I think that you misunderstood my concern.

So far as Public Opinion--Screw The Public's Opinion!

They could also stop looking the other way, rat out their fellow gang members, and collect the money.

I am not asking for them to be virtuous; just to stop being dicks.

As usual I'm late to the party and the link no longer works.

Does anyone have a link that still works or an alternate link that will work?

Thanks,

Thanks ML.

I would like to see this idea gain some traction and actually get to work.

I think the removal of the "Internal Affairs" units would be helpful as well as long as they are replaced with some kind of Public Review Board or some such.

What makes you think that any sort of "public review board" would improve matters? Such "boards" are larded up with busybodies and political up and comers. They are still composed primarily of people who desperately want to mind someone else's business - no matter what motives they profess.

When some people are given power over other people, tyranny is the inevitable result.

I'd much rather see the elimination of non-voluntary government police, at all levels. I'd like to see individuals, and their voluntary associations, be completely responsible for their own safety.

Of course, your solution has about as much chance as mine. sigh
