Second largest city in the state.  Situated in the Wyoming wind tunnel... and gets just about the worst, coldest weather and deep snow, next to Yellowstone and Laramie. Too damned close to Cheyenne.. the largest city, capital, and growing socialist snot farm. But then, I don't like the place at all.

I understand, but it is where the job is, and it is NOT Chicago.

Casper may be smaller than Cheyenne in population, but it feels like a big city, whereas Cheyenne does not. I haven't lived in Casper, only visited, so I can't speak to practical details.

I've never been to Wyoming but I imagine most places would be better than Chicago.

You asked. I have friends who live there. They can no longer open carry without risk of being hassled by the cops there who think they are big stuff. I can't really tell you much more, since I'll never set foot in the place again.

No, it's not Chicago.... yet. They're working on it. sigh

Too bad!
I visited in 07, I thought it was nice enough.
Tired to talk the Mrs into moving with no luck.
Open carried while there, no problems, but it was a short time.

Yea, tried to move earlier but the misses did not want any of that.
long story short, got rid of the misses.
Job transfer came in Monday, so I got about 2 to 3 months to get stuff together and packed.
find a place and then get there. on the plus side, I get to take my dog with me.
he is a save-a-vet dog, so not really mine, but I am his handler, so he is.

Congrats, on both getting rid of the Mrs. and moving. In my experience, the former is a lot harder than the latter.

Good luck in your new digs and new job.
