I spent the week in Texas training for work.
Great weather until it was time to fly home.
Austin airport area got flooded and shut down.

We were safe, but we were delayed for 24hrs.
Fortunately Austin has decent food and attractive scenery.
Happy to be home though.

Dang. I wish I had known you were that close. I would have stood for the first Shiner Bock and brisket taco.

My usual story a day late and a dollar short.

I hope you enjoyed our little corner of the planet. (?)

stay safe,

Well, Black Friday started as white. 3+ inches of snow and a balmy temp of -6 (yes below zero). supposed to almost reach freezing by 2pm. At least there is no wind (currently).

We got about 2 inches of snow Wednesday night, but none of the wind predicted. Last night it got cold, 4 degrees when I got up at 3:30 AM... then went down to 2 around 5. Up to a balmy 13 now at 8:30. Skies clear and the sun is shining. Guess I'll put off my usual morning rabbit hunt until late afternoon until spring. It's too cold for the old lady to stand out there right now and the deck is very rough ice. :) But there are bunnies everywhere!!

More snow supposed to come by Saturday. I guess it is winter for sure now. :)

Expected high of 61F today here in southwestern Vermont. Highs in the forties and lows in the twenties for the rest of the week, but still no snow forecast.

We got about 5 inches, but the wind blew most of this away.
was 5 when I went in for work at 4:30am.

Still better than Chicago here.

Supposedly getting a major snowstorm here. Hazardous weather warnings, etc. 100% likely for snow today, with a possible accumulation of 1 to 3 inches.  Wow, three whole inches? That's a big storm?

Turned on the deck lights just now and there are a few flakes floating past from time to time.

Guess I'll put the emergency supplies away. Big hairy deal. Grump

It was finally dry out this morning.  Been warm (50s) and wet here since... November.  Very odd way to end autumn here in Iowa.  We had a cold blast during October but then it turned a bit warmer.  No complaints though; I'd rather drive through rain than snow/sleet/ice/yuck any day.

I'd rather not drive in the rain either... :) But our snow isn't wet/sleet/ice. Mostly it is dry powder. If the temperature rises above freezing, it's so dry here that the snow evaporates as much as melts.

Without a good snow pack, however, our grasslands and forests will burn next summer. That's why we want all the snow we can get (within reason, of course.) :)

60F here in Southern Vermont yesterday. 50F already at 8:30am this morning. Got some rain, which is good, but it sure feels weird to be out in bare legs in the middle of December. Looks like we've got some freezing nights coming, maybe even snow flurries, but still highs in the 40s.

greeting from Casper

the temps at 0500 was 28f with about 8 inches of snow on the ground, with more on the way.

I-25 north of Casper is closed to Buffalo due to high winds and snow.

Laddie (my corgi) loves snow. He very much enjoys trotting along, dipping his face in it from time to time and coming up with a mouthful. No idea what that's all about...

This morning, he went out as usual. Looked all around, looked up into the dark sky, then stomped back up the steps and into the house and is now on his bed by the heater, chewing on his toenails.

It's been plenty cold here the last few days, and supposed to go down to single digits by Thursday night, and may even dip below zero by morning.

This was about 1/2 hr. east of PHX metro area yesterday morning.  In between two mining towns Superior and Globe (Devil's Canyon) - c'mon cows get farting!  Methane is good, m'kay.  CH4 4 life.
