This has been one of the most confusing winters In my memory. Yesterday the highs in the 50's sunny, snow finally melting off from the Christmas day dump. Today, High of 16* and already a 1/2 inch of white fluffy rain. ??? Whooda thunk in Wyoming?

Weather has always been a mystery to me, wherever I lived. I keep careful records of the weather for various reasons, and I've got to tell you there seems to be no consistency. Rough patterns, occasionally, but nothing you can count on, ever. The government predictions are mostly a joke. And did you notice that they often change several times in a single day? LOL What's the use of a prediction that changes constantly?

Anyway, I'm glad I can just stay home. :)

Was -6 degrees outside here this morning. Up to 18 degrees now. But that will drop soon.

Weather has been brutally cold the past week or so.  Every morning I wake up and the temp gauge reads well below zero.  Negative teens most times!  It does crawl up to single digits during the day but my gosh this winter has gotten off to a cold start!  Wood stove has been roaring every day.

12 positive degrees this morning at 3:45. Has risen to 15 at 7AM. Fire still burning, but I won't add more wood now, but when it warms up a little out there, I'll bring in more of it. A snowdrift covered my woodpile, so it is quite challenging to bring in. Hope the drift melts some today. :)

a bit cloudy - that's a major thing when you're acclimated to clear blue skies about 300 days of the year -

have seen uptick in flu cases, normally when we transport folks back to skilled nursing/rehab facilities it's for things other than just being sick, but when I ask about patient (where do we hurt, what are they in for) the past few have been flu-related

https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-health/2017/12/20/seasonal-flu-arizona-up-758-percent-last-year-report-shows/969055001/
---
The Arizona Department of Health Services said there have been 2,976 reported cases between mid-October and Dec. 20.

That's compared to 347 cases in the same period last year — a 758-percent increase in flu activity.

have seen uptick in flu cases,

And I'll bet most had their "flu shot." Very suspicious. But add to that, generally poor nutrition and other factors, The SNF environment is not a healthy one, even in the best places. And there are so many poor ones.

I'm not surprised at large numbers of elderly being affected. I've never had the flu in my life. Wish I knew why and could bottle it...

 :sign10:

Not many. :) I've been bitten by a mosquito maybe four times in my life. Each time was through clothing. If they land on my skin, they take off immediately. The only bug that bites me very often is a deer fly. Those things are vicious... and have no sense of taste, I guess. LOL

Ever since my family and I have stopped taking the flu shot (going on 5 years now) we have stopped getting the flu.  It also helps that my wife feeds us fruits and veggies every day, breathe country air, play outside a lot, wash hands often, etc!

Yes, all those things do help. Keeping your immune system healthy is the first task. Unfortunately, the "flu shot" actually damages your immune system, so I'm glad you got past that. I never had the flu... and I never had the "shot" either. In fact, I've had almost no vaccines, and almost no antibotics either. Works for me. :)

Going up to 45 degrees today. YAY!! And I got the last of the ice scraped off the back deck yesterday. Now I probably won't fall and break my neck.... until the next snowstorm, of course. sigh

-9 outside right now, going for a high of 8... brrrrr  Not much new snow. Looks as if we'll have a slight warming trend this week.

I'm counting the days until April.  Feeling the cold so much more since I lost so much weight.

Snowed in for the third time already this winter. The car is stuck in a drift in the south driveway, and it looks like it will stay there for a while. We got about 7 inches of new snow last week, and another good inch yesterday. I need to get a shelter built for the firewood. It's hard to bring enough in after I dig it out, and it is often quite wet.
