A tale from Wichita KS...
April 2013: Kyler Carriker (who is, coincidentally, son of failed Republican governor candidate Jennifer Winn) finds a marijuana dealer for an old buddy and some of his friends.
Said buddy and friends end up shooting Kyler Carricker and murdering the dealer, Ronald Betts (who is, coincidentally, brother of former Democratic state senator and state representative Donald Betts).
July 2013: Kansas law is amended to hold middlemen in "inherently dangerous felonies" liable for deaths that occur. The law is applied retroactively to Kyler Carricker, who is charged with 1st degree murder for being the middleman in the "inherently dangerous felony" marijuana transaction.
Judge instructs jury that if they find Kyler Carricker guilty of being the marijuana middleman, they must also find him guilty of murder.
Jury says screw that, and finds him guilty of the marijuana offense and not guilty of murder.
