Folks,some of the posts on this subforum are rude.The TMM enjoys varied views and opinions.When a member/s steps outta line that's a non-starter.I thank those that let me know about it,I'll handle the problem.An senior admin and the site owner should not need to remind folks of manners. Ought 7.

The trouble, my friend, is finding a definition of "rude" that we can all agree on. Do we all agree on the definition of "civility," or much of anything else? Sure, it would be nice if everyone was willing to discuss things in an impersonal way (I guess) and never let tempers flare - but that won't likely happen since we are all human... imperfect humans.

What one considers rude, is not to others. We need to negotiate an understanding when things get rough, but there will never be a time when members can truly expect to see no controversy or a guarantee of no hurt "feelings."

I'd love to see all the members work a little harder toward being polite and less argumentative, of course. Negotiate or avoid, rather than argument and personal attacks. Doesn't seem like too much to ask... of us all.

This subject has been bounced around a few different times.

What I feel it comes down to there are several different ways too get your point across ranging from polite to, well, not polite.  There is no real reason folks that you can not choose your words in a way to avoid pissing someone off while still making your point.  No matter how passionately you disagree with their particular point of view.

You a mind reader? How in the world can you reliably predict what will "piss someone off?" We can and should do our best not to piss people off intentionally, but it is very difficult to predict just what might cause someone to REACT that way. Nobody is responsible for how someone else reacts, even if they are deliberately obnoxious. Nobody has any "right" not to be pissed off, or be "insulted" or whatever, especially by manipulating other people into PC crap.

Man that really pisses me off.  No just kidding.

What I am saying is there are ways to say something that do not intentionally provoke someone.  That at the same time is not in any way pc.  Certainly you can not predict what will irritate someone but at the same time when you intentionally use words KNOWING that who you are talking to will be irritated by your choice of words is just exactly what I mean.

Is not that what this whole 15 thread argument is all about? 

How about the several people whose new apparent hobby is using the word we whenever they can knowing it will start yet another argument?

Everyone at TMM is obviously completely free to follow that advice. Always have been. However, I don't see any way to make it happen myself... It has to be a personal choice by each person.  I'd love to know when you believe being a jerkoff is necessary.  (I know you didn't mean it that way.)
