Perhaps All IS Lost. General stupidity.
« on: August 15, 2016, 09:22:19 pm »

These videos by Mark Dice show some incredibly ignorant people agreeing to various things. If this is a sample of "general America", we are indeed, LOST. There of many of these. One asks students if they would support Karl Marx as a third party candidate. Another asks for them to support Hillary and sign a petition to repeal the Bill of Rights. Stunning and Sad. And we wonder why we can't get people to understand libertarian philosophy. Is it hopeless out there?

I'm not going to watch the videos.... just wonder why anyone would be worried about something like this. Can't imagine that the idiots you mention actually represent ALL of the people in this country. Could it be a hand picked sample to demonstrate what the producers of the video want to portray? Nah, couldn't happen. :)

Remember that "they" (whoever is pushing this crap) want us frightened/angry, discouraged and misinformed. Never heard of this Dice person, and don't know why I'd want to trust what he says or does.

Yes the general population can in fact be dumb as rocks.  I remember a video from awhile back supporting a ban on H2O as it is lethal in relatively small doses.

Who…Me,

Yes, I remember seeing that video. Penn and Teller if memory serves, although I could be wrong.

I believe there is a general tendency of many/most people to “follow” and to want to “belong”. They do so without critical thought, understanding or analysis. Perhaps there is a “lemming” DNA in humans. Perhaps it is just laziness or even an inability to ‘think’. Perhaps it is their early programming which will be difficult to overcome. Human history clearly shows (to me) that most people are followers. From tribes to groups, from religion to countries, that seems to be the trend.  Even packs and herds of animals show this tendency to follow “the leader”. If ANY can overcome this, it will be humans. However, since time seems to be short, perhaps we should just try to use this tendency to follow and rather than only attempting to change the masses “DNA”, give them someone or something to follow.

I guess one question is, how to “use” that tendency to further liberty, individual rights and freedom. Getting people to change their “DNA” is, I believe, harder to do (though not impossible) than accepting their willingness to follow but giving them freedomista examples to emulate. Even fictional characters, such as John Wayne’s onscreen persona or Mal of Firefly can be a role model, (perhaps one reason it was canceled), even though both had “followers”. But how do ‘we’ project and develop that model, especially among the young? They have been programmed in government schools for decades now, to follow the ignorance of the socialist group. Mark Dice has demonstrated this but as yet I have not seen him offer a solution, although I have not seen all his work, yet. That’s what TMM is about. To offer possible solutions.

I believe the internet is our best chance at this but that window may be slowly closing. Many talented and freedom oriented people are attempting to sway others, using this medium but most are informative and educational rather than supplying a role model (fictional or real) to emulate or follow. Informing and education is critically important but I do not believe it is enough to change our current course, quickly enough. Masses need to be swayed or at least, be “led” to freedom.

I have long thought that using the founding fathers as an example or role model would be beneficial and among older people it is. Dice has shown that many of the young cannot name even ONE of the founding fathers or even what country we fought to leave in our revolution of 76. Not all of course and his is a very small sample but many. I doubt if any of the rioters we see on the news can.

I am rambling and do not have the answer to this but am hoping a discussion might bring forth possible solutions, if indeed, it is not too late. Otherwise, we should just give up, hole up, teach our children (and those around us) personal responsibility and ZAP and hide, hoping they might survive to spread the meme. I believe many former members have chosen this tactic and I cannot blame them. I guess I am still tilting at windmills.

Opinions?

I forgot you don't do videos. We should ALL be worried about this, although the "idiots" he shows certainly do not represent ALL of the country. He seems to be picking people at random although his locations, such as the beach or college campuses may affect the answers. Most are young (under 30?). I do not believe Dice is trying to frighten us but to inform. Could be wrong. Perhaps you should watch it before declaring "crap".

Well, my friend, you can be "informed" by such stuff if you wish. I have attempted to watch a great many videos, but get little or nothing out of them. Now, if they were actual studies with verifiable statistics and, maybe, a scientific approach... it would be worth really looking into. But we all know how easy it is to manipulate people, pictures, sound tracks, etc. You can decide anything about it for yourself, obviously. But you did ask for comments. I didn't realize there were specific conditions for offering one. sigh
