Amazon to collect sales tax
« on: January 13, 2017, 07:15:24 am »

There is just no fixing stupid, and I am not going to buying anything more from Amazon now.

Under a voluntary collection agreement, Amazon will begin collecting tax on sales to Wyoming consumers and businesses beginning March 1, 2017

Amazon has recently moved to collect taxes in Utah, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. In total, the company collects sales tax in 34 states and the District of Columbia.

If it was just Amazon, maybe. As it is, Amazon has a choice between collecting the tax and going out of business. Same choice as every other business selling to the public. Why punish Amazon? Going to stop shopping in town too? They all collect the WY sales tax, and more.

Non-voluntary government is the culprit, as well as anyone who still actually believes any government has the authority to tax... or control.

The question then, is what can we do to cancel that bogus authority so many still believe in? Not shopping from Amazon doesn't seem very effective.

Maybe, but Amazon also choose to collect taxes, and as for them needing to, lots of business were selling online and from catalogs with out collecting the tax, and they did not go out of business.

as for how to correct this, I say vote the bastards out, but some did not like that idea
so here we are now.

Well, I was mistaken that it was already a "law." I see that a great effort is being made to justify theft, and with the current revenue constraints (not enough cops engaged in highway robbery, I guess), this idea will no doubt pass in the new congress.

Some interesting information about this here:
Senate Re-introduces Marketplace Fairness Act for Online Sales Taxes
http://www.accountingtoday.com/news/senate-re-introduces-marketplace-fairness-act-for-online-sales-taxes
The Marketplace Fairness Act of 2015 would give states the option to require out-of-state businesses, such as those selling online or through catalogs, to collect and use taxes already owed under state law the same way local businesses do. It relies on the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement among states.

And more here:
Feds Launch Internet Sales Tax Again, So Better Click While You Can
http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertwood/2015/03/11/feds-launch-internet-sales-tax-again-so-better-click-while-you-can/#6d321b9b56af

You notice that none of this addresses the tax as theft, of course... just some questioning if it is "fair."  And nobody seems to care what might be "fair" to the robbery victims.

It would seem that Amazon is, indeed, cooperating and maybe even supporting this nonsense. That's a whole other question. sigh

Please outline exactly what would be changed by "voting?"  Do you honestly think that voting for one slaveholder over another would change the perspective of those writing these "laws?" Just whom do you think we might have voted for would do anything different, even if they COULD?  Ron Paul couldn't do anything much about this sort of thing, all through the long years he tried. I never heard of anyone else who would even try.

Now, if we could "vote the bastards out" and never anyone else IN... I'd vote for that. :) Otherwise, we just get another set of bastards each and every time... whether I vote or not. :)

Well, from what I have seen, most of these "Bastards" use the fact that they have been in for so long that they "Know" what is best and how to screw us better then some new "Bastard".

maybe true, maybe not, but if everyone is new, they may not be willing to screw everyone, just my thinking here.

but as long as the "Bastards" think they are untouchable, then nothing will stop them.
