Eek, I don't know what to make of this. My own kids used to come into our bed for years, up until they were teenagers. When my daughter was first born nearly 34 years ago, I was advised by "childcare experts" that having her sleep in our bed was the best thing. I had her cradle next to the bed but as I was breast feeding her I mostly used to go to sleep beside her.
My grandchildren sleep in our bed all the time now, even though I put them in their own beds, I invariably wake up in the morning to find at least one of them asleep beside us. The only problem might be if they wet the bed but that hasn't happened yet. I don't mind the 8 year old or the 5 year old but Samantha who is 7 is terrible, she flings her arms around while she is sleeping bashing me on the head, and kicks and carries on while she is asleep. Last night (or early this morning) I woke to the sound of her saying "Nanna, I think the window is open and I'm getting cold", I was already perched on the edge of the bed so I got up to close the window and found that she had taken over the whole space and there was not any room left for me.
This is the first that I have read that sleeping with your kids is a bad thing to do. What has been the experience of anyone else?

The two boys, who are aged under four, have been put up for adoption, after social workers raised concerns after finding bruises on their bodies.
Judge Peter Greene said the mother, who has not been named, failed to act on advice given against “co-sleeping” and outlined his verdict at a private hearing in Cambridgeshire.
