Yet, Supreme court decisions are "worshipped" by government in other circumstances.  Rather selective, isn't it?

The driver was non-compliant with deputies during the traffic stop near 185th Avenue, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

The pickup truck had a plate on the back that said “PRIVATE, no driver license or insurance required, not for commerce use – private mode of travel.”
There are several posts and articles that use excerpts from Supreme Court cases to claim that drivers do not need insurance or state-issued licenses (or permits) to drive on public roads -- requirements to operate vehicles in Oregon and Washington.

Driving without license or registration is treated as worse than armed robbery in many jurisdictions. Of course, doing so SHOULD be a right, but it don't work that way in most places. Beware.

Doesn't work that way anywhere. I always wonder about the folks who choose such things to make their stand. I wonder if he got a marriage license, if his house was built to "code," if he votes at all, or how or why... I wonder if he thinks the police should "protect" him somehow, or if he pays his property taxes willingly, so many other things.

We are surrounded by these things and there isn't really any way to avoid much of it. Even if you go live in a cave, it's either private property (with all that goes along with it) or "government" land, and there is no escape from the insanity eventually. I wonder if this person actually thinks that the non-voluntary government has any legitimate authority to do anything? It is that belief in government authority that keeps people in thrall to that same government, one way or another.

And we may rebel, in small or even large ways, but our neighbors who DO believe in that authority will usually be glad to help the police, etc. keep us in line, beat down, subservient to that "authority" - even when they probably gripe about the methods at times, but would never dream of actually resisting themselves. They are all sure they can just "vote" the bums out... etc. And the saddest of these are those who do try to resist, but rely on the "constitution" and such to justify them, foolishly relying on that to vindicate them.

Question the authority... Convince others to question the authority.

Indeed.  Sure it is not required to have those pieces of paper in your glove compartment or that piece of metal on your car and I imagine there are some that have beaten these raps in court, but my gosh I wonder about the time/expense to pursue such recourse.  I, for one, prefer not to sit in prison glowing at the thought that I stood my ground and won 'in principle'.

I'll pick the battles that are far less noticeable.  Growing my own food, raising my own animals, etc.
