Light sprinkle of snow yesterday, briefly. High of 43, expected high today 51. Wind was brisk for a few days, but it is calm now. I'm seeing some GREEN sprouts among the brown grass and weeds here and there. :)

I got out my seeds again yesterday, and today I will start the first cabbage and broccoli inside. YAY!!!!

We got dumped with white stuff this weekend.  8 inches of snow that has avoided us all winter finally came in one fell swoop Sunday evening/Monday morning.  The puppy LOVED the snow.  She was jumping, rolling, and burrowing like a crazy thing every time we took her out.  Kids would run through the snow and she would bound right along side them.  It was such a great sight to behold.  This coming Thursday warmer weather and rain is coming so most of it will be gone by the weekend.  I'm really, really, really ready for spring.

Bracing for "Winter Storm Stella". Why these storms need to be named is beyond me. I haven't been to the store (you know me, I'm already prepared), but I can just imagine what the shelves look like.

My area seems to be expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of 18" (give or take a few), and gusts up to 50mph. Nothing new for upstate NY. Happens every year, yet people still freak out about it. Morons.......... :headscratch:

My biggest inconvenience will be not being able to work, which sucks. I'm overbooked and running behind lately. It's a good problem to have, but it is a problem nonetheless.
*Update*

Currently, I have about 9"-10" on the ground.

Current snowfall rate is a little over 1" per hour.

The wind hasn't picked up yet, but it is supposed to start gusting this afternoon.

As of right now, the county that I live in as well as every surrounding county, either already has a travel ban or one has been posted but not yet enacted. My father called, and said that up at my BOL, there is at least 3'. He said that it's up past his belly button. :thrshocker:

Which, I'd think, would make it fairly important to already BE THERE if all hell should break loose in this kind of weather... among other considerations. How would you get there NOW if you needed to? I really worry about you, my friend.

Bah. Ce n'est rien. As I said, this is a common occurrence here. The yearly snowfall amounts here are consistently up high on the list for the continental US. A big storm like this really does happen at least once every year. My BOL is not the only place that I have prepped. I can shelter in place for a LOOONNNG time if I have to.

If I absolutely HAD TO GET THERE........I have a 4x4 with brand new tires, good boots, and snowshoes. You know how the saying goes......"My backups have backups".

I just ran the snowblower again (gotta keep up with the snow). I last cleared the driveway at 2pm. Since then, 12" of fresh snow has fallen in just a mere 5 hours. That brings the total to around 22" in the last 13 hours.

Bill St.Claire probably has a bit of snow too. If you see this, chime in. How much snow do you have over there?

I cleaned about a foot off of the car yesterday evening. Got a few more inches since then, but it's stopped now. Very light, dry snow. The skiers will be happy.

Much of the town shut down yesterday. Didn't seem like much of a storm to me, though the most snowfall of the winter. But then, I lived through the blizzard of 1978 in Boston.

6" fell last night, bringing the total to 28" so far. The forecast is calling for about 10" more by tomorrow morning.
