just wondering about if any one has done and looked into this here.
I have been in serious to moderate pain for more than 50 years. I've studied a great deal of alternative and herbal medicine. So far, few things (especially anything "legal") help with anything but minor, temporary pain. The clove oil for toothache is one.
The very best way to manage pain is to find and correct the problem that causes it. The tooth abscess or large cavity will be soothed temporarily by a number of herbal and physical measures, such as the cloves or an ice pack, but the actual problem will have to be solved eventually by a dentist.
Herbal preparations are terrific, and very effective, for most topical applications. Skin rashes and minor burns, other irritations respond wonderfully if you have the right product. Some of the best are aloe vera, jewel weed, and seeds that produce a gummy substance such as flax, chia and others.
A fair number of problems that cause pain are not responsive to much that is available, including serious opioid drugs. I tried all that for my pain years ago too, and it didn't help much - while causing other serious problems. There are things that could be done, such as acupuncture, water/swimming exercises, massage and other things that are either not available or too expensive for me to consider.
I have found that cannabis oil, taken orally in capsules, does help with muscle and joint pain temporarily. I have not experienced any "high" or euphoria using this either. Unfortunately, it doesn't help much with the peripheral neuropathy, which is my greatest problem right now. But it does allow me to relax enough for other measures to help me sleep a little.
And, unfortunately, it is seriously "illegal."
Wish I had a better answer, but there it is. It makes a big difference what kind of pain you are talking about.
