I couldn't decide whether to put this in this area, or "silly stuff." Maybe I'll cross post it there too...
I don't go to the bank often, maybe three times a year... so it's been a while. Needed to draw some cash, and I don't use an ATM.
Anyway, found a notice on the front door that demanded one remove all hats, scarves, hoodies, sun glasses (and i don't remember anything else, but there probably was...) I took off my hat, and asked the teller (a friend) what that was all about. She said it was their new facial recognition system... so they'd have a clear picture of anyone who might rob the place or whatever...
I laughed and asked if she actually thought anyone who wanted to rob the place would pay attention to it... she seemed to think they would, and was a great addition to their "security." HMMM, never noticed any of that before. But oh well. I asked her when was the last time anyone robbed a bank (or anything else) in this town, and she told me about an attempted robbery at their branch in Moorcroft... no details. She was getting frowns from the head teller....
Anyway, she said they would soon have a new security feature as well... each customer would have to be 'buzzed in" from the front lobby. HMMM OK, I told her this was silly, and that the only people who would be inconvenienced would be the regular customers.
And then, as I was leaving, it occurred to me that I'd come in, visited with the teller, and left while openly carrying a gun... nobody lifted an eyebrow... Almost went back in to see if they wanted to hire a gang of old ladies (my weekly shooting clinic folks) to be "security guards." But I didn't.
I wonder what the facial recognition stuff, and the buzzer in deal is costing them. And I'm going to see if I can find out what happened to the want-to-be bank robber in Moorcroft.
