Got my property tax bill today.

Wow it is a lot less than ILL. was.

like 1/10 of .01% of what ILL. is.

and yet ILL. is going broke, hmm wonder why? ;p

My "property tax" in the remote desert of So. Calif. was about $3,000. a year - give or take. I can't remember exactly and I threw out all the papers years ago. But that's pretty close. I have five acres here, same as in Calif., and a much nicer house, and the property tax is about $800. a year. Down about $20. from last year, actually. The rate is much, much higher in the "city" nearby, still lower than Calif.

But, of course, still theft. And, as usual, the number one consumer of that loot is the "schools." More than half of that "tax" is for the schools. And they are always screaming for more and more.
