Fact or fiction? Message from the FBI?
« on: November 21, 2017, 09:25:47 am »

Got this in email just a moment ago. Smells very fishy... as in fishing expedition. No details to refute? I'm sure not going to call them. :)

Oh, and look at the sender's email address: Aluyesu@c20029233-24.consulnetworks.com.co
And the date...

Never mind. Just some silly spam.

Doesn't mean "they" are not looking at us, of course.  :dnftt:

Spam indeed.  The FBI would just teleport themselves through the hidden holo-emitters throughout your house that you didn't realize were there.  Why waste time with email?

Notifications of crime do not come in email. They are hand delivered by someone who says, "You have been served", or by men with guns and badges who drag you away.

Of course. :)  But I suppose there is no shortage of silly ploys to get people to incriminate themselves either. You just never know.

Did you ever read my short story, "There's a Fed in My Soup?"

Maybe, but not recently enough to remember anything about it. Link?

Just sent it to you Bill.

Thanks, MamaLiberty. I'm about half-way through. The story feels familiar, but it could just be similar to something else I've read. Probably won't finish until the morning. It's 3am, and I really need another sleep cycle.

ML, please send me one of those copies of your story about a "Fed In My Soup". Sounds cool!

Noiw dig this. One of our other members got an email from the FBI just like you did, only that email was sent to him by a fake email address using my name. He contacted me immediately, so he knows it was not from me. It did use my "eliasalias" prefix for an email address, but had the wrong suffix, and he recognized that error and did not respond.
Am guessing there is little we can do about such mischief, but I sure do hope none of my friends get anything like that with my name on it -- and if anyone reading here does, now you know to ditch it as spam. Sheesh!

Salute!
Elias
