Hmm, 2nd Amendment or no 2nd Amendment, I'm confused.

Hawaiian authorities have asked medical marijuana users to “voluntarily surrender” firearms due to their medicinal status. This may mark the first time a law enforcement entity has moved to confiscate guns from cannabis patients.
Marijuana users in Honolulu are expected to turn over all firearms and ammunition to the state within 30 days of receiving the notice, according to a letter signed by police chief Susan Ballard,  reported the website Leafly.

That's too bad, but hardly a surprise. Those folks should have voted with their feet a long time ago. Hawaii has been a socialist paradise for a very long time already.

Although I agree with you basically it could be argued that they live there already, maybe have been born in that state, all their family lives nearby and they have deep ties to the community and their job or business.

It's easy to say "oh that is only happening in (x place) and that is a socialist state so if the people don't like it they should shift".  However, we have to consider that maybe some of them cannot afford to shift.  It is a huge thing, uplifting your entire life and going to live in another state (well you know that, you did it yourself) so here's where the "First they came for the communists and I did not speak out because I was not a communist, then they came for the Jews, JWs, trade unionists etc. etc. and I did not speak out etc., then when they came for me there was no one left to speak out" thing comes in.

Just saying .....

No one is forcing them to stay.

In the US, you can move about freely as you will.
but if you do not like something that is going on where you live, you can still move away from it.
No community or family is worth becoming a slave of the state.

Exactly. We can scream all we like about it, acknowledge that it is wrong all day long, but none of us can do a damned thing about what the state of Hawaii (or any other) does to people who live there. Those individuals who do live there have the power to change the situation - for themselves as individuals especially.  Remember that all of the people of Hawaii who "vote" have consistently chosen these gun grabbers to "rule" them.

Not my problem.
