my youngest grandson's first comprehensive word
« on: January 16, 2018, 07:09:43 pm »

It is my third grandchild's birthday today and my daughter brought her baby and two step children out to share the day with him.  It is also my husband's mother's - or his great-grandmother's - 95th birthday, so she is here also celebrating.

Grandma bought huge "super soaker" water guns (one for Aidan - the birthday boy and one for her to use).  All in all Aidan got about 9 toy guns for his birthday, and all the kids are out "shooting at each other" and soaking each other with water.

(My eight year old Samantha has already come in about 4 times complaining that she is "wet and freezing" and changing her clothes only to go back out and do the same thing again).  Grandma has now come in saying "I got saturated and I only brought one change of clothes).

Anyway, the baby, who has just turned one, picked up one of the guns, held it in "the firing position" and said clearly GUN!

So much for the "anti-gun" culture, kids are, and I think always will be, obsessed with guns.  It seems to be inborn.

Sound like a fun day!  And the older ones should be introduced to the four rules of gun safety. They can't learn it too early. A lot of people don't agree, but I think that truly WATER guns are fine for youngsters to play with that way, pointing them at people, but they need to learn the difference, seriously.
