These are just a few of the many articles you will find if you do a search for “police officer indicted”. Maybe the concept is spreading?

“A Baltimore City Grand Jury indicted a police officer this week for police misconduct and tampering with evidence”

Mark Taylor, a police officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, has been added as a defendant in the case involving a scheme to disclose un-redacted accident reports to a local chiropractor.

Must have stepped on someone's toes. They can get away with murder easier than insurance fraud, I guess.
