Still no one has said.  IS there a law in America barring convicted criminals from "holding public office" or not?  And just like (I think) a "convicted criminal" - I suppose it depends on the severity of the "offence" - may not legally possess a gun, is there a similar rule for top bureaucrats as well?

Or doesn't it really matter?

Lots of criminals hold public office. They get to decide, you understand. But it doesn't matter to THEM about the guns, even if that was enforced. They simply hire armed bodyguards.

This never got much publicity, no follow up stories, instead it's like he is talking about fictional characters and promoting a fiction book.

I have been waiting for "the other shoe to fall" for 6 weeks now, and although I've grown to realise that the American political system is totally surreal and NOTHING is what it seems, I still continue to wonder how these facts can be ignored and everyone can pretend that "white is black and black is white".

They are not ignored, and "everyone" is not pretending.  Remember that the media of almost every kind is not telling the truth, to start with, and distorts everything to the statist propaganda. The protests and truth are not reported. None of us really have a good idea what the "facts" might be unless we are there, unfortunately. If your source of facts is the mainstream media, you have no idea what the truth might be. Fox "news" is no exception in the long run.

I will admit that I've come to be VERY sceptical of just about every news source.  I used to go to "infowars" a lot, but then realised that they have a tendency to exaggerate, hyperbolise really, they are still a good source of information as long as you check it elsewhere.  I have come to pretty much rely on Breitbart for mostly everything, and Fox seems to be a pretty straight and honest news source.  I have no evidence that they exaggerate, lie, sway, editorialise too much or leave out important points.  CNN, MSNBC, or BBC are absolutely terrible, they may as well be the "official communist propaganda news sites for the world".  So what is good and reliable?

We really need something to tell us what is really going on.

However, I clearly remember being utterly outraged at (reliable, I guess) news about the goings on during the election campaign and then reading that part (probably about 20%) of America seemed to have gone absolutely crazy after the election, and that half of "Hollywood celebrities" were spending their days "tearing their hair", looking at the sky, making the sign of the "devil horns" and shrieking the "f... word" as loud as possible for 2 hours at a time.  Then reading that the DNC had so overtly cheated, claiming millions of votes for Hillary Clinton and then "with a straight face" claimed that she'd "won the popular vote".  And there were some horrible, vicious, nasty as can be "opinion pieces" (although not always stated as "opinion pieces" but as "news") in the days after the election and then again after Donald Trump's inauguration.  I just thought that all these things together were so egregious that no news source could justify it or try to normalise it, but that's exactly what they seemed to be doing.

Anyway, still waiting for "the other shoe to drop".

I don't know why you would be so upset over the "election." Or the "celebrities." It makes no real difference at all who is "elected," or how. They ALL have no interest in anything but total control of everyone else's life and property. They all use whatever lies they think people will swallow.

No idea where anyone would get "news" that was good and reliable. You can't even do that with purely local things, in my experience. Our little weekly paper is published by a statist liberal, who thinks government "school" and taxes are the bee's knees. Nothing government can do is bad, far as he's concerned.

Seems to me that the key is to mind our own business, control our own lives and families, and leave everyone else alone to do the same. I don't know why any of us would expect to find the full truth in any news media. And I'm not sure I care much about politics anywhere.  I have never expected any of them to tell the truth.

the only reason I can see to keep an eye on the news is if you are wanting to, or can  monkey wrench the system.

but that is my own opinion, your mileage may very

I can't think of a way to "monkey wrench" the system, even our local liberal rag. Not without initiating force, at any rate. How in the world would one go about it with CNN or any of the rest of the media?

there are ways, but most do take work, and effort to do.

the easiest is just to ignore them. show that you just do not care what they do, go about doing your own thing with no regard to them. Most of the fake news are wanting your attention. and money. do not give it to them.

there are other thing to do, but I do not want to talk about these on a open forum.

OK, ignore I can do. Have been doing that for more than 30 years. :) Not sure how that "shows" anyone anything. I'm sure they are as uninterested in me (as an individual) as I am in them.

Well, accountability at last?  Maybe?  Possibly?  Here's hoping.

This could be the start of something big.  Let's hope that these silly democrats don't manage to "pour cold water" on it.

This woman is amazing (Shaheen); she says "you're not suggesting that spying occurred?".  Seriously?  What does she think he just said?

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/greg-craig-ex-obama-white-house-counsel-indicted-on-making-false-statements-to-doj

Greg Craig, former White House counsel for then-President Barack Obama, was indicted Thursday on two counts of making false and misleading statements to investigators -- including Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team -- in connection with his work on behalf of Russia-backed former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
Craig is the first prominent Democrat to be indicted in a case arising from Mueller's now-completed probe into Russian election interference. Mueller referred the Craig case to prosecutors in New York last year after uncovering possible wrongdoing while he investigated former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's Ukraine lobbying work.
