Winter coming early to Wyoming
« on: September 17, 2017, 10:40:50 am »

We had a few days with temps in the 90s this short summer, but not many. Was supposed to freeze here last night, so I pulled all of the tomatoes and peppers yesterday evening. Came close, going down to 34 this morning, but the plants all look ok now. If I hadn't picked them, you KNOW they'd all be frozen black. sigh  You can't win. Anyway, the tomatoes are spread out on the table to ripen and the peppers are now all processed and in the freezer. I'll have plenty all winter for a vitamin boost any time I want. Not sure what I'll do with all the tomatoes, but I'll think of something. Not enough of them to can.

I'm thinking this winter will be colder than usual, and since I've lost so much weight I'm feeling the cold much more than I did before. Thank goodness for layers of warm clothing. Two pairs of wool socks now fit into my big slippers, thank goodness. :)

Here in Southern Vermont, the foilage is starting to change, but the temps for the next week are predicted at highs in the 70s and 80s and lows in the 50s, with only a little rain. Very nice end of summer.
