weight lifting might be a good idea to preserve strength

it   is   better   than   many   types   of   exercise...if   done   moderately....depending   on   your   fitness  /   activity   level...

well people prefer sarcopenia and falling from lack of strength and balance so you  can't argue with that.

I prefer body weight exercises and isometrics.

A good option as well. Different stages of life require different strategies. I did body weight for years.
