Impeachment?

The above quote was taken from this article.

Although the article above avoided taking it that far, the word impeachment has surfaced in a number of articles to date.
Elias has been calling for impeachment for months.  Below is a list of articles posted on TMM's front page. In each, IIRC, such a recommendation has been made.
It's also interesting that Belgium has forwarded War Crimes lawsuits to the UK and the US, where (of course) they will be dismissed.
Although there have been recent abuses, our Freedom of Speech allows us to speak freely of such things.  Doing so creates momentum. Momentum creates critical mass.  Critical mass creates change.

Touchy subjects, any thoughts?

Elias isn't alone among our circles in calling for impeachment. I believe I've seen it by other libertarian anti-war commentators too, although I'd be hard-pressed to provide specific sites or URLs (too much web browsing these days).

I wish I could say that adding momentum to such a movement would be helpful ... but I'm not sure it would be. After all, many pro-freedom individuals thought nobody could be as bad as Klinton ... and here Dubya is in many important respects worse. I fear that pattern could repeat itself if he were to be impeached. I know little about Cheney (and am not sure I want to know), but that isn't much comfort.

Looking at it from another perspective, sometimes I think that the only thing that will significantly advance the freedom movement among the sheople is if things really begin to fall apart in this country. Right now, the economy's in a bit of a slump, but most folks are still comfortable enough that they aren't bleating for change. As long as they're "comfortable enough", our ideas and solutions are likely to seem too radical for most of them.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, Lady Learning, but I've never been able to bullshit anybody ... and I certainly don't want to start learning how among friends.  :)

Elias is one among many. He was the first to take a public stance for impeachment at TMM and since the articles I listed were from TMM , I thought I would include him in my message.  A Google search "Articles on the Bush Impeachment" generated a list of 1,574 such articles.

No doubt the pattern will repeat itself until accountability for the office is demanded. It doesn't correct the problem of the political system but impeachment is a powerful message to send to anyone on Capitol Hill intent on blatantly abusing the power of office.  We have to pick our battles to be sure, but I mention bush and impeachment whenever I can. For every 10 blank, hostile, or incredulous looks I get, I might get one thoughtful or approving look.  People have heard it in print, on the internet and the occasional blurb on the tube, but actually hearing it from someone face to face brings it to the grassroots level, and that's where some great stuff starts to happen.

I agree, and the "falling apart" has begun.  How badly it has to fall apart is the million dollar question.  Just what will it take to knock people out of their complacency? I'm not talking about the somnambulistic, I'm talking about concerned people on the fringe.

On the contrary, I want to hear truthful responses.  I've yet to find anyone truly awake to the problems we face that wants less.  I appreciate your insight and honesty.  ^_^

This interview between a former CIA analyst and William Rivers Pitt is simply huge. The farther into the interview one reads, the more exciting the revelation becomes.  It appears that the Bush Administration's "Dogs of War" may shortly be fed to the wolves by none other than the CIA. Nobody likes being lied to.

Not only is the CIA preparing to dump Bush; there is one Rockefeller from West Virginia who has intimated that the Bilderberger group is disenchanted with Bush and ready to drop him, which means that the Bankers are no longer seeing him as controllable. To match Jay Rockefeller's condemning dissent, here also from West Virginia is Senator Robert Byrd with a scathing rebuke of Bush's gamemanship, or lack thereof.....

The point of impeaching a President for his criminality is to demonstrate to our servant government that the will and rightful intent of the people shall prevail over corruption's despots who would violate the public trust. Bush's complicity in the events of 911 and his complicity in international war crimes and militarized terrorism, as well as his abuse of the U.S. Military and his oath of office, among many other crimes, must not be permitted to go unpunished. If this President is left in office, he will doubtless send forth upon American soil yet another "terrorist" attack and declare Martial Law, which, if my take on the array of Executive Orders and PDDs on file is correct, would put him in the unique position of executing an Executive Branch coup. This man is dangerous, more dangerous than Hitler was. I do agree that whoever replaces him in that office will also come from the same source-school as did Bush, and I enjoy thinking of alternatives which could prevent that, but that is a topic for another thread.

If we can't get impeachment, how about a recall?
