Now why do I feel this is not the Chicoms testing something on their own people first before letting it loose on the rest of us?

It really does not make a lot of difference whether the flu is as awful as some reports have it or that reports are overblown as others claim.

The second and third order effects will be a big deal.

We are already into quarantines exceeding half-a-Billion people, states, countries, ports... global shipping is plummeting; all forms of production are shutting down before our eyes... the world-wide supply chain is about to hiccup bigly.

What would Noah do?

Am I the last one alive?  ... and I just got over my Ebola infection geez!

local skilled nursing facility not permitting visitors/family with new day-glo signs put up - you see a little wash stand outside bottom left I had to use ('for 20 seconds!') - then nurse had to come out and take my and pt's temp with those IR based thermometers

all this for something that (as far as I can tell) has a mortality rate very close to seasonal flu

Went out - Fry's [Kroger] closed 1hr early, went to 24hr Walmart (closing/closed), went to other 24hr Walmart (closing in 15 minutes!).  I'll start to get anxious if the local taco shop https://www.losfavs.com/  * isn't open.

Walmart aisles (food section):

But I got what I was looking for - apparently microwavable pork egg rolls ain't on the 'we're all gonna die!' shopping list.

It is fun to watch ....  The mentally and emotionally handicapped are doing exactly what our educational system, lamestream media and politicians trained them to do.

Thinking just isn't on the list of desirable characteristics or actions.

Last week our reporter from Seattle told us they have run out of toilet paper.
With strong encouragement from me based on reported intimidating situations cropping up in her face, she began shopping for a handgun (she is quite competent with them, just between weapons.  The shopping was enlightening.  Supply VERY LIMITED. Prices astronomical.  So I aimed her at Sportsman's Guide, but then she had a lot of telephone calls before finding a local FFL dealer who would complete the transaction for her.

THEN she ran into finding fuel for the bullet launcher.
UNOBTANIUM.
Running out of ammo for sale is a step up the evolutionary ladder over running out of toilet paper.
I shipped some to her.  Nice to have extra when family calls.

Posted at the small mining town Fry's self-checkout:

So, according to https://www.watertiger.net/disinfect-wells-and-tanks/ , [1000 gal (4550 L)] of water is disinfected by [6.5 ounces or 12 tbsp (180mL)].  My cheapo bleach is 96 FL OZ = 3 QT = 2.84 L.

SO, keeping with English units my one cheapo bleach container will disinfect

(1000gal H2O/6.5oz)  *  96oz  == 14, 769 gal H2O

They mention if water is cold then wait two instead of one hour after mixing.

Addendum from the website:  "If you are treating water from a lake, stream or shallow well, use twice as much of 5% household bleach as indicated in the chart below and wait twice as long before drinking, as it is more likely to contain chlorine-resistant parasites from animal droppings."  So only about 7, 300 gal can be disinfected if you want to be really safe.

Going in and out of various hospitals transporting patients it's interesting how my temperature has varied from 89oF to about 98o F at their checkpoints.  These are IR (I assume) thermometers mostly where they aim it at your forehead but the most recent one was under the tongue of the person in front of you ... then they stick it back into this slot which apparently sterilizes it, pull it out, and stick it under your tongue.  Next time I'm there I'm going to ask for a rectal reading with their reusable thermometer, THEN we'll check their temperature orally with it after the quick in-and-out from the the sterilizer slot in the machine.

My temp after taking one one sip of cold drink and waiting 'til thermometer 'beeped' it was done.  Same thermometer minutes later 97.2o F.

Edit:  Apparently, the device they stick it in puts a new plastic sheath around the part that goes in your mouth.
