Putting $$$ In A Foreign Bank
« on: August 10, 2005, 11:32:12 am »

I remember in Claire 1001 Things To Do...It's recommended to put $ in a Canadian Bank just in case things get hairy here...

Are there any other Foreign Banks one can suggest and if so do you have to open a Business Account like some Canadian Banks demand ?

Thanks !

I'm no expert at this topic, but last I heard the Canadians no longer provide "safe" banking. I heard they now cooperate quite freely with U.S. JBTs, particularly thugs from the IRS.

But I could have heard incorrectly too.

Evening AR,

Offshore banks are good! My experience to date is with these folks, great privacy and service.

Banco Panamericano, S.A. (PANABANK)
P.O. Box 1828
Panama 1, Panama
Tel: (507) 263-9266
Fax: (507) 269-1537
General Manager: Guido Martinelli
E-mail: panabank@pty.com

U.S. Correspondents:
American Express Bank, New York
Marine Midland Bank, New York
Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, New York
Popular Bank of Florida, Miami
Hamilton Bank N.A., Miami
Barclays Bank PLC, Miami
Nations Bank International, Miami

If you need more info on offshore financial institutions ck the POLK Directory at your local Library. BTW, shevek is correct, Canadian Banks do in fact kiss the asses of US JBT's, especially the IRS. Stay away from them altogether, nuff said on that, okay?

Regards,

Americus

Thanks everyone,  ;)

Also would it be worth my while to put my $$$ at a Overseas bank in nearby NYC ? Say like one out of South America or Japan ? I would put it in Bank Leumi but I'm told the Israeli's are too chummy with the JBT's like the Canadians...
